Reena’s Exploration Challenge – Week 3

I just need a password ….

I have untapped abilities
Just waiting to be discovered
It’s never too late, one agrees
And so, I just need the password

I could write, I know that by now
I could dance, but a bit awkward
I could cook, I have the know-how
And so, I just need the password

I couldn’t sing, that is for sure
I get sea-sick, even anchored
I’m good with wine, like connoisseur
And so, I just need the password

I have untapped abilities
And so, I just need the password*

* A Kyrielle Sonnet consists of 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain stanzas and a non-rhyming couplet). Just like the traditional Kyrielle poem, the Kyrielle Sonnet also has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet consists of only eight syllables. French poetry forms have a…

Secret Abilities Unknowingly Hides Somewhere In The Corner Of The Heart. Heart whispers every now n then .. ‘Come on Lets Give A Try’ Or ‘ Lets Do It.. ‘ but Something Holds Back. We know we have the ability that needs a tapping. Few lucky gets the chance accidently and few avoids even after knowing it just need a tapping to discover.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge – Week 3

The journey of a life time, and destinations unknown …

Michael's avatarMorpethroad

exploration-challenge-3

He awoke at 3 am as he had done so often that week. Once again, the same dream had been happening. Though he was beginning to think it was more nightmare than dream.

It was one of those dreams where he was standing in front of a panel of people he knew from his childhood who at one time or other had offered him advice.

In every dream, it was the same thing, “Did you try this? Did you try that?”

Always the dream ended with a chorus of voices saying: “He never listened. We knew he’d amount to nothing.”

Around him, the people at the table would be shaking their heads that look of: “If only he’d taken heed.”

In the early hours of the morning, there are very few distractions, and his mind wandered to what the dream was saying.

Yes, he remembered as a child being told…

“Intellectual Snobbery and the Poetry Police” by DENavarro

Intellectual Snobbery and the Poetry Police by DENavarro

A while back, I had a run in with the Poetry Police. I got pulled over for excessive adjectives. The officer liked my poem but wrote me a ticket for too
many modifiers. He said it was necessary if I wanted to be a serious poet.

Bah! I had to laugh, which confirms that I am not a serious poet, but rather a seriously lighthearted one. In response to my poem, Symphonic Forest, the
gentleman wrote:

Essentially, I like this poem. However, it gets bogged down and diluted a bit with the use of too many adjectives. Wordiness might be forgiven, given the
nature of a symphonic score in terms of notes. But the thing about telling rather than showing is that it leaves very little space for the reader to expand
his/her participation in the art of reading poetry.

The comment…

The Sight of Stars

ancient memories
light up the night sky
with a shimmer of
astral dust
yesterday’s magic
scintillates

 astrology and mysticism
a twinkling aura
crowns the moon drunk
with cosmic wine
and weightlessness

motionless in freefall
earth is an afterthought

a blue yo-yo suspended
in the echo chamber
of space
while the universal orchestra
plays a silent requiem

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Meeting the Bar: the Acrostic

Our host for today is Frank and the form is the acrostic, whereby we take a word or phrase and use each letter as the first letter of each line in the poem, with the word or phrase reading vertically down the left side of the poem…

Elusive realities… and an invitation to share your stories

Sue Vincent's avatarSue Vincent's Daily Echo

In 1936, Country Life magazine captured this image said to be the Brown Lady while visiting Raynham Hall, England.

Whether we believe in alternative realities or not, we have no guarantee that we are not experiencing them all the time. How would we know if the man we just passed in the street is real or not? If the sound we heard in the night really is just the plumbing or the creaking of the house? How can we know for certain that the imaginary friend of a child exists only in their imagination? And what is imagination anyway, if not the gateway to another reality?

Almost everyone has a story to tell about some strange occurrence that set them wondering, gave them the shivers or brought them comfort. For many such instances there are undoubtedly perfectly rational explanations and for the rest, there is always disbelief.

Technically, I suppose…

Whirlpools in the Mind

when the storm subsides life will be at its final destination or just renewing itself I suffer from a massive phobia, which has probably not found a medical term, as yet. It is the fear of my creativity ebbing away. When the senses start blurring, will the mind remain active? And how will I express … Continue reading Whirlpools in the Mind
