what has the world come to today
when we have to claim
that black lives
matter
as
well
do we live on animal farm
where some animals
are much more
equal
than
rest

A beautiful take on being human ….

One of the lessons in life I have learned is to never assume to have knowledge of the limit of how human we are.
Around us, we are constantly reminded of man’s inherent evil towards each other, and at the same time, we are urged to take notice of man’s desire to help one another when disaster occurs.
We watch the news daily to the bewildering amount of destruction we bring to one another all in the name of some remote political cause or religious driven act that either way leaves us speechless.
In recent times we have been captivated by the bravery and ingenuity of people around the world coming together to assist people in need.
The story of the Thailand soccer team and the extraordinary actions of their rescuers leaves me in awe even after reading the story of so many brave acts.

Malcolm Potter was desperate enough to finally make the pilgrimage. He once thought it was all silly nonsense, but things had gone too far. The monster in the White House had made an incredible mess over the past two years, rolling back environmental protections so that his rich buddies could clear cut and strip mine, even in national parks, chipping away at abortion rights, healthcare, protections for all marginalized populations across the board, and having a religious fanatic as his Vice President. The nation was spinning out of control.
He had been a staunch atheist for most of this five decades of life, and couldn’t understand why religions were still tolerated since they were one of the major causes of war, oppression, persecution, and colonialism. Unweaving woven threads
sometimes a necessity,
borne out of,
deceptive materials at large,
fingers deft
at putting them together,
now fumble
and quiveringly linger,
to undo their
own painstaking craft,
broken strands
can’t hold others,
weaken even those
that run their course,
and over time
the holes only grow,
Now undone,
each thread on its own,
time for the culprits
to be let go,
the fingers search
with experienced eyes,
for threads that love
being intertwined,
to weave a new fabric
once again from the start,
resilient in each strand
that’ll make its core,
and together those
that now shall meet,
will withstand,
the ominous tests of time.

The prompt for Frank Tassone’s Haiku challenge was afterglow in honor of his anniversary.
non-negotiable are those solitary moments when I bloom into gardens internalize beauty of what I am, and could be they anaesthetize pain of living in borrowed garbs Septets for dVerse's Seventh Anniversary
