Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 45

Indira's avatarSharing Thoughts

prompt 45

The format can be  a story/poem/rant/anecdotes/journalistic coverage of events/ reflections/history/geography/memory as usual. Pour out, and let it flow unhindered like the rain.

Beware of the

fire of revenge

of a wounded ego

Beware of

fury of nature

if abused or

misused

or overused

for greed

Beware of

the fire of hunger

of any kind

Beware

for they know

no forgiveness

Try to suppress them

they will

hollow you out from inside

like a termite

Fight them

they ruin you

with a vengeance

Just  be aware of them

and treat

with the love, care

and understanding

give them what is due

Or

the result will be

devastating

and all humanity will suffer

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 46

Michael's avatarMorpethroad

nothing-changes

This was a perplexing task in that the obvious answer for me is to talk about myself again. I could discuss history repeating itself with the orange man, but we know all about that.

I was married for 23 years, and at the end of it, I vowed to myself that I would never allow myself to be in that oppressive situation again. It seemed a reasonable resolution to make as the abuse I suffered has been life changing and I am now the man I am.

I stuck to my resolution for quite some time. I did engage in another relationship, which at first was about love and equality. I found a mind to match it with myself.

Everything went along well until I began to notice that my new partner believing she was doing me a favour set about to change me into a ‘better’ version of me.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 45 – Climate Denial.

Michael's avatarMorpethroad

prompt-45

Climate change was happening despite all the naysayers and sceptics. The evidence was obvious down on the beachfront. Where once even at high tide there was a thin rim of sand along the waterfront to walk upon now the ocean lashed the shoreline and threatened to cascade over the man-made barrier.

Our political leader, who saw himself as a bit of a King Canute had made promises, based he proclaimed on irrefutable science, that the sea was not going to encroach on the city. He announced the unusually high tides as a freak of nature and within a few weeks the sea would retreat to its customary levels and life would return to normal.

His idiot predictions were just that, the ravings of a mentally deranged man pretending to hold power over nature.

The city went about fortifying the beachfront, huge concrete boulders were put in place to hold back…

Weekend Writing Prompt #63 – Crumble

ladyleemanila's avatarLadyleemanila

wk-63-crumble

The ground beneath my feet begins to crumble
I’m left with nothing to hold on to, null
I have to admit, I have lost the battle
You are there, so far away, unreachable
I say this, you say that, misunderstanding
Causing pain in the heart and soul, shattering
For what I’ve done, I’m blameful
The world is against me, my fight is extinguished
You have abandoned me, the one I cherished
Forget the pain and move on, as I mull
I’ve learned my lesson, time to rise again

What’s The Deal

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

I am part Irish and I never understood why the Irish have so many superstitions about all of these ridiculous things.  I understand that things were different in my grandmother’s time, as back then people wanted to keep witches away and make sure that their new born baby was protected from evil spirits and my grandmother carried all of these false notions over from what she was taught.  Many people grow up with weird traditions and superstitions because the infinite Universe is sending them heuristic lessons, so they can overcome their fear of the unknown.  Francis Bacon said, “The root of all superstition is that men observe when a thing hits, but not when it misses.”  Most of the superstitions that my grandmother taught me have been forgotten or lost, but the ones that survived, I keep as a treasured memories.

A normal superstition would encompass breaking a mirror, having…
