Black Holes

This is an abridged version of my poem, Black Holes in the Brain, showing the effects of Alzhiemer’s disease on a person. During the stressful transition from independent living to confined living the confusion for my father-in-law was greatly increased. I posted his Wandering/Wonderings earlier this week.

Bjorn from d’Verse~Poets Pub asked us to consider the use of punctuation in poetry. It helps shoe line breaks and increases flow for the reader. This one is full of punctuation. It was written four years ago after working through this difficult transition.

Black Holes In My Brain

“I have come to discover that I now have black holes in my brain.
Spaces of emptiness that never get filled.
Like the holes in my pants pocket the memories slip out…”

“Oh, you are here? Well I didn’t realize! When did you get here?
You have been here a few weeks? Well I didn’t…

Eventuality – Friday Fictioneers

Ria walked through the dilapidated house with a grace that belied her age. She paused by the ornate French windows and smiled ruefully.

‘This place was designed by Angelo Del Vecchio. He billed by the minute, you know?’

She stepped out to the garden overrun by nettles and weeds.

‘I used to host tea parties here when I was a kid.’

She stopped outside the derelict solarium and choked back a sob.

‘What happened? It was so beautiful.’

‘Age and neglect, Madam.’

She ran a shriveled finger over her parched face.

‘Ah, yes!’

The once dream-girl walked away in silence.

pensitivity101's avatarpensitivity101

Sammi’s posted her challenge early this week due to weekend commitments.
https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/20204174/posts/1937857528

Touch me, feel me, know me. I am here, as are you.
Enlighten your spirits, embrace your inner being,
Lift your eyes skyward,  let yourself drift and
Escape your spoken shackles. There is much to enjoy as you take
Pleasure in the wonders you see.
Act on your impulses, think positive thoughts,
Telepathy has no bounds or gender,
Hear your true self, explore and question the unknown,
Yearn for understanding without words.

Even a cell matters
When functions well
Life secure
But when it rebels
Life obscure

hecblogger's avatarPlaying with words
