Lose myself, did I? ….. at kittysverses

My first days in this enigmatic world, here,

Wholly dependant I was, ever endear,

Slowly, the firsts of teething, talking, walking,

Experiencing the firsts of independence, never balking*,

The place where I was at first, helpless,

Is where I found strength in hopefulness,

My first days in an ocean of knowledge, school,

Unknown, I was of any rule,

Slowly, the firsts of social skills, life skills, academics, sports,

Experiencing the firsts of knowing the real world, in its own course,

The place to which I lost the safety of home,

Is where I found strength, in its knowledge, I roam

My first days at work,

Transitioning from informal friends to formal professional network,

Slowly, the firsts of practical knowledge, contacts, appraisals, perks,

Experiencing the firsts of accountability without a jerk,

The place where I lost the cocoon of my student life,

Is where I found strength in its application, in…

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #96

The two sentences for the prompt this week are fairly simple, and yet not so simple.

This is where I lost myself

This is where I found myself

————————————————————————————————————————-

Unconsciously
I entered the forest
as if in a haze
in a haste
to explore as much as I can
quickly
and in the process
got lost
There is so much to get lost
In the forest called life
I was unprepared
Didn’t know the jungle rules
When panic subsides
Calmness takes over
I turn back
I find
The way to go back is the same
which brought me here
the same will
take me to where I have started
Time wasted
or
Lessons learned
To find
I have to start  again
but this time
with consciousness

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #96 – Lost and Found.

Lost and found …. by Michael

Michael's avatarMorpethroad

The default position within the family was set on naive. The boy through no fault of his own inherited it.

Blithely he experienced what he leant from the newspaper and the radio news.

His mum shared the romantic stories of her cheap novels, love was something earned, and if you were lucky, it worked out ok.

For twenty years he lived that way, then he met a girl and thought he was in love.

Marriage came, and with it, the expectation of a life shared, of acceptance, of mutual love and care.

Within a week, he was confronted by the stark reality that marriage was not as he imagined. Living with another person had its pitfalls, and he was not prepared; his romantic notion of love and marriage was very soon shattered.

There upon he entered a world of pain, misery and torture, not what he thought he was signing…

Lost and found …. by Sadje

PROMPT

Being lost in myself

I didn’t see what was around

All the time absorbed in my life

An existence which centered around me, only

My sorrows, my problems, my sickness and my woes

It is an intensely absorbing issue, the issue of my ego

But then

I found there are others

That I don’t exist in a hollow

I share my life with millions around me

If I have problems, they have troubles too

If I am suffering they have worries too

The amazing thing that really opened my eyes

That when shared , troubles and problems

Become less, become bearable as

We find that we are not alone

All is never glory or sweetness

But when we see that there is

Much around us to be grateful for

We find a sense of proportion and

The heart feels blessed and thankful

Now I…

What To Do

What to do … by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

This is where I found myself, all alone on this deserted beach.  I put in an online application to join the military, thinking this was the right move for me, getting to travel and explore the world while serving my country.  They would pay for my college tuition and if I stayed long enough I could get retirement benefits.  The problem I had was I did not know which branch I should choose, should I go into the Reserve, the National Guard or sign up for active duty in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy Air Force or the Coast Guard.  I knew that I was in good physical condition, of appropriate weight and I should have no problem being able to pass a standard physical screening.  There were some things that I knew I didn’t want to do, like jumping out of a plane, so I would not become a…
