Even though hers was a marriage arranged by her parents, she got to choose her life partner as per her liking. She considered herself lucky as her partner’s educational qualification, likes, dislikes, social stature was compatible to hers. She wasn’t compelled to work after marriage as they were from a very well to do family and she thought it was best to quit work after marriage and give her 100% to her new role as a homemaker.

Her initial days of marriage were rosy and colourful as her imagination. She was getting to learn and experience life in a new, never before unexplored way.She enjoyed cooking for her husband and adding vibrance to her home. It was like her life was complete.

Slowly, monotony and a feeling of uneasy regularity crept in. She wasn’t denied comforts, independence, choice, but she felt a sense of hollowness. People envied her for the…

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #95

PROMPT

There are two words given below, with the meaning. Choose any one and write a piece encapsulating the spirit. It is not necessary that the word appears in your piece unless you want to include it. You are brilliant if you can include both.

I doubt that human knowledge amounts to probabilities which are threatening their lives, even, let alone to certainties.
Scientists, wise men etc…going hoarse over water shortage, air pollution, plastic menace, etc. Most frightening is the grave situation we are going to face in 2020. Not that condition is good in some small cities, villages and remote areas.
Their warnings that there will be no underground water in at least 5 major cities is falling on deaf ears.
Politicians are ready to fight over language, caste, reservation or over any issue related to the empowerment of women, minorities but not overwater crises.

Utterly Redonculous

Save VJ from going under the rock 🙂 “Utterly redonculous” by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Looking for a rock at present,
preferably a boulder,
might dig myself a cave
and await resurrection

sacrilegious, I know,
but the tasks are overwhelming
and the words – just too much!

I mean, eleutheromania?
The mere utterance enough
to make me run for cover

and now I am to believe
that pulchritrudinous
equates with utter beauty –

oh my raspy voice
stumbles over the words
as brain loudly protests.

Too much, I say –
will have to save creativity
for another day

Meantime,
I’ll be under
that rock.

(Prompts today elicited irreverence:  Reena’s Exploration challenge – see for yourself; and Ragtag Community’s unusual word; slightly tamed by Fandango’s “raspy“. )

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #95 — acatalepsy

Acatalepsy … by Jade Li

Lisa or Li's avatarTao-Talk

Source:https://www.adventureinyou.com/

I went out and did a little reading and found info at wikipedia (my favorite learning destination). It talks about the philosophy of the Stoics, who believed that truth could be absolutely apprehended, which is katalepsis. There was an “opposing” group called The Academics, who believed this was not true, and called it acatalepsis. From wiki:
The Academics responded to the Stoic theory of katalepsis with the following syllogism:
1.There are true and false impressions (phantasiai).
2.False impressions are non-kataleptic
3.True impressions are always such that false impressions could appear identical to them.
4.Among impressions with no perceptible difference between them, it is impossible for some to be kataleptic and others not.
5.Therefore, there are no kataleptic impressions.

Acatalepsy in philosophy is incomprehensibleness.

One way I think the theories of katalepsis and acatalepsis fall short as a philosophy is their assumption of one definition of knowing a…

How do people react when they learn that she’s Senegal’s first female graffiti artist?  Do they grimace because they believe that women shouldn’t paint or do they applaud her for following her passion?

33 Words

This is based on Dieynaba Sidibe, Senegal’s first female graffiti artist. Through her artistic expression, Dieynaba wanted to show solidarity for women, because “all women, everywhere, whether they are fishmongers, graffiti artists or office workers, we are all fighters. Women are fighting to be free to do what they want, to do work that pleases them, to be paid equally to men, and to follow their passion.”

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #95- Oh, to be free!

Oh, to be free …… by Sadje

Sadje's avatarKeep it alive

1. Acatalepsy (the idea that it is impossible to truly comprehend anything)

Source: https://www.adventureinyou.com/

2. Eleutheromania (intense desire for freedom)

Eleutheromania is eating up inside her

This golden cage is beautiful but it still

Holds her in, captive and imprisoned

The soul needs to be free, to float in

The wide open spaces and to enjoy

The thing that they call liberty or freedom

She would gladly give her life in exchange

For the chance to be free from this cage

But it’s like Acatalepsy to those who never

Have been free, have always been slaves

Because the blind cannot comprehend light

And the deaf cannot understand the melodies

FOR THE NEW ENTRANTS

As usual, there is no restriction on the format or length ofthe piece. You can get as creative and innovative as you want.

Mental Care Institution

Mental Care Institution — by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

The psychiatric hospital was secluded away on the edge of a lake surrounded by hills.  An old castle was converted into this state of the art insane asylum.  Dr. Joseph B. Strange was the director of this mental facility and he believed in treating all the patients with cannabis, till they developed acatalepsy.  He thought that since human knowledge never amounts to certainty, but only to probability, that treatment should go no further than to appear as being a therapy and verisimilitude was acceptable, as long as the patients were happy.  The only bad side effect of using the cannabis seemed to be the irrational disorder known as eleutheromania that certain long term patients developed.  These patients that craved their freedom would try to escape every now and then saying that when they thought they were being followed by a moon shadow, so they didn’t like being cooped up.
