Genie Unleashed

Genie unleashed …. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Artistic sensibility
hungered by the exquisite
craves expression

The critic guffaws
decries creativity
starves the impulse

Who unleashed
such nonsense,
such magical thinking!

To think beauty
once espied
can be replicated

and by such an amateur
the unskilled hand
an unworthy representative.

But the artist, unleashed
knows only magic –
this genie will not be rebottled.
(Thank you to Reena’s Explorationchallenge, whose prompt line is: The genie is not getting back in the bottle.  Art work my own – self-critiqued and found lacking, thank you.)

A Stranger

A stranger ….. by tiredhamster

tiredhamster's avatarVery Important Stuff Here

I had met the man many years ago. He called himself a servant though his master had let him go. He claimed that his whole life was tied to a purpose. He served his master. That was what he had been bred and trained for. I wasn’t sure why this man was speaking to me, bringing up such things, as we both stood alone waiting for the bus to come.

He then turned his eyes away from me, his gaze reaching outward across the street, perhaps to scoop up the darkness huddled near the buildings. I didn’t ask him why his master had let him go. I wasn’t all that interested. I just wanted to see bus lights glowing into horizon. He then started to mutter something and his stare drifted downward. He was older, but not yet old. His best years were gone, but he was not yet done.

The future…. by Joe M.

joem18b's avatarDoes writing excuse watching?

“what are you so worried about?”
“i used my third and final wish to make the genie go back in the bottle but he won’t do it.”
“The genie is not getting back in the bottle?”
“he says he will, but he says i didn’t say when he has to do it, so he won’t do it now.”
“why is that a problem?”
“dude, i’ve unleashed him on the world. this is basically an evil genie we’re talking about. think of the mischief he could get up to.”
“like what?”
“i don’t know. global warming? pandemics? wars breaking out here and there? homeless people? lots of poor people?”
“dude, we’ve got all that already.”
“dude, you’re right! what’s my problem?”

A New Home

A New Home….by Susi Bocks!

Susi Bocks's avatarI Write Her

Sailors confused her home with a bottle of their favorite drink, releasing her accidentally. They callously pitched her green housing to the sand upon discovering the error. She decided no wishes would be granted upon seeing the multitude of lecherous and treacherous men. It was wise to remain out of sight. They didn’t deserve her help, nor would she be a slave to them and their filthy, disgusting wishes.

Besides, thinking to herself – Why would I ever go back to that little space when I’m out here in paradise? No,the genie is not getting back in the bottle.

The Unseen Reaction

The Unseen Reaction ….. by Richa Thankey

Richa Modha's avatarMy lingering thoughts

Countless beings roam around.
How did these bodies their way to this Earth found?
Of course it was the union of two souls,
But not just a mere single reaction in womb’s bowls!

The whole cosmos was in favor of the moment
Strong desires, from heavens, perfectly sent

The emotions mingled,
And the ego shredded.
Two paths merging into one.
Bliss that emanated, shone!
Thoughts twinning of two minds,
And ripples produced by good vibes.

No scope of negative intrusions.
Just the colors of a new life’s radiations!

Genes got passed on
And behaviours carried on.
Few new traits evolved
And some features replicated.

Two nuclei fusing into one
Happy dreams played the catalyst in the run.
Protons reacting from the crust to the core,
Positivities sailing on the shore.

A fate being written in a rhyme –
A journey of a new lifetime!

Two cells in a space confined…

Messanger

Messanger … by Shilpa Nairy

Shilpa Nairy's avatarShilpa Nairy

Sita screamed and got up to realise it was the same dream again.

“What is the meaning of these dreams which are appearing frequently. Should I share this with Raghu? Is there any connection to my personal situation?” Sita was confused and battling in her mind.

Raghu woke up hearing her scream and asked “What happened? What are you thinking?”

“Aa.. Ammm.. Nothing. It was an unusual dream”.

“I am seeing this from the past few weeks. You are stressed about your current pressures from my parents. Its ok honey, I am with you. Its all left to our fate and Karma”, He consoled her and patted to sleep down.

“Do you believe in dreams coming to true? I do. I have experienced it many times. Anything I see more often in my dream will have some meaning and it comes true. I wish this should have a good message…
