~*~
I am here
Far from home
I want to go back but
There are lot of restrictions
The flights are suspended, borders closed
Daily I check for flight schedules to see if I can
Get booking to fly to my home country
But I am disappointed every day
But I am still hopeful
I will get there soon!
~*~
When the pandemic broke, a lot of people who were out of the country for work, business, or vacation were stuck in foreign countries. This poem is a reflection of their…

Cool, grey slate ….. by Jade Li/Lisa
Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com
Surveying cool grey slate,
Shapes form, then colors
Rainbowed characters drawn
Shade shift, flavors pique
Sensory extravaganza
But only in our minds
What is is a unidimensional
Flat map of what could be
How do we inflate the dream
Into three dimensions?
Winds, planets, satellites
Water pools, veins, capillaries
Mountains, valleys, caves
The greenleafs and furred
The scaled and naked ones
Three dimensions lush, full
But still an empty caricature
Without holy, magic things
Meandering in, between spaces
Hearts, souls, cosmic synapses

The world hates him

Light …. by Aishwarya
Fireflies, in clusters,
Enough,
To be the light in darkness,
Collectively enlighten.
The Sun,
Doesn’t,
Hold back his radiance,
Awakens attributes aplenty, unsolicited.
Light radiates in abundance,
Bottling it, shrouding in darkness, only to be obscure,
Let inhibitions be bygones,
Uncork the spark to shine on forever.
47 words.
Thoughts behind the poem :- Uncork the light to radiate around. Don’t hold back.
Acknowledgements :- In response to Reena’s Exploration Challenge # 142. Thank you for running the challenge, Ma’am. For rules please refer here. Thank you all for stopping by and reading.
More than I need …. by Jim Adams
I had enough toilet paper to last me till Thanksgiving and I was not worried when all the shelves were empty at the store, but yesterday when I went out, I saw that they had toilet paper available on the shelves again, and I bought more. It is taking up the whole bottom space in my pantry and I can barely close the door and I figure that now I will be good through Easter and my pantry could be called the cupboard of abundance. I certainly don’t want to run out of toilet paper and it looks like we have a long way to go with this Covid-19 pandemic, as it doesn’t seem to be going quietly away. I wonder if I was stocking up, or have I become a hoarder.
It seems simple enough, wash your hands, avoid touching your face and when you are out in public…

Conflicted …. by Len

I told Jonah to pack some clothes in a bag as I would be taking care of him now , at least till he was grown enough to stand on his own two feet. While he packed I washed his ma, found her prettiest dress and combed her tattered locks, ensuring she looked presentable for the undertakers, I stroked her hair and sighed, mourning the waste of a good soul. I grabbed the bag of clothes and marched Jonah down the dusty path to my shack at the edge of the woods.
I showed him where he would be sleeping, told him to drop the bag on his bed and steered him towards the kitchen chair.
Searching for the scissors, I exclaimed ” We have to do something about that hair, it’s much…

Damn dream ….. by Shilpa Nairy
The family commitment, taking care of ill father, education of younger brother had curbed Bhavana’s dream of travelling different part of her birthland and the world. Though she was earning in lakhs, she could not save a penny. She had stopped about thinking her life, future and dream.
One day while she was strolling in the garden and surprised to see the golden peculiar bottle that was visible half covered in the mud. She pulled it with curiosity and rubbed to clean the bottle. Some smoky blurred transparent image popped up from the sprout of the bottle that made her throw it and start running.
“Your wish is my command” voice followed her.
“Don’t run. I am a genie. Ask three wishes. You are my master until I fulfil those.
Bhavana had heard about this in the story and couldn’t believe if its genie or ghost or something else. She…

Frozen moments ….by Punam
A snapshot of life in full glory of colours
stays encapsulated in the camera
frozen for the time being
as life fades into greys and blacks
drab shades of uncertain existence
the pace suddenly goes slack
the idyllic surroundings beckon
but eyesglide past, unfocussed
trivia occupying the turbulent mind
cofusion reigns!
the mighty changes unleashed so abruptly
getting entrenched in slow motion
life stands akimbo in a limbo
this genie refuses to be bottled again!
