Road trip … by Christine Bialczak

Stine Writing and Miniatures's avatarStine Writing

On a green verdant hill in the vast countryside
a presidential vehicle, driving fast, slowed its ride
Responsibility from aides shouted, “go by fast”
but in exercising the law this man screamed out at last
the man shouted, “no!” and said that he wanted to see
what was in a dark hole in a big, old oak tree.
He knew he should waiver or lest he be drawn
into the brambles that spread all around on the lawn.
a twig poked out, then it snapped with a crack
but in his dark mind, the twig pursued fighting back.
He quickly raised an arm to safely shield his dark face
surveying all the land to find a quick hiding place.
He turned to his right and saw a clown standing by
Horror filled his whole face and let out a strange cry
Running away towards the cars open door, he ran…

Look at all the puppets
hanging there
Presidents, Queens, and Kings
dangling in mid-air

Past this gruesome spectacle
of political debauchery
Look for specter’s in Congress
and Supreme Court botchery

Each and every elected official
those sworn to protect us and serve
Personal agenda’s they all carry
Their sworn oaths no longer observed

These cords only we can sever
No more control by gun fanatics,
oil mongers and pharmaceuticals
Need to replace all these phenetic’s

RXC # 238; We have a picture prompt this week.

➰➰➰

Free thinking is not something we encourage here

We would like very much for you to follow our directions

It’s not that we are holding your strings in our hands

It’s just that acting on your impulses is not safe for you

Just surrender your will to us and we’ll look after you

We will make sure the life you live is free of inspiration

Devoid of highs and lows

Just a comfortable life of dull monotony

That will keep you cocooned in a false sense of security

You are not puppets, just biddable citizens

My Story

My story …. By Mich

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

My Story

if you know my story
you’d be amazed
for mine is the
modern account
of an era where women
are regarded as the weakest
human version
mine represents
the zeitgeist of the
unfortunate era for women
an era when if a woman speaks
her mind she is stubborn
she is selfish
she is arrogant.

if you know my story you’d either
hate me or love me
hate me for not standing up
for myself or love mefor being
the most resilient patient
woman you’d probably
encountered this age.

however you take it
i guarantee you
i am well aware of
my rights my dispositions
my priveledges and i will
fight the moment
i am least expected to
retaliate.

that’s who i am strong
determined empowered
but resilient and patient
most importantly
i never rage a war
without a game plan
so if you think
i am weak and…

What is our hallmark?

What is our hallmark? ….. by Sadje

We have a word prompt this week

Zeitgeist

➰➰➰

It’s hard to capture zeitgeist of our current era

On one hand, we have loosening of the norms

Things that were acceptable are being trashed

And more freedom is being given all around

While on the other hand some conservatives are trying

To drag the society back into the dark ages

By curbing the rights of women and minorities

I do wonder what the future generations would say

About our confused decisions, our indeterminate reactions

Have we failed at everything that we had set out to do?

My Heart and Mind Shatter

My heart and mind shatter …. By EM Kingston

E.M. Kingston's avatarThe Ramblings of E.M. Kingston

Restoration – Image by KL Caley

Like this old beaten house, my heart and mind are full of grief and loss. Long story short…My daughter duped me and took away everyone in one swish of her razor tongue. All I ever wanted was for my kids was for them to be loved, happy, and have a new mom with a new look on life. It’s clear that they just want me to be the bad guy, so I am going to mourn in the way that I know how. I don’t want to answer a lot of questions. I just need to feel this in order to not break down again.

Place – My Mind

Emotion – Mourning

Adjective – Misunderstood

Verb – Mirrored

My animal – Mockingbird

My essence – Misery.

My mind is tangled and weaved in sorrow.

I feel like an old house, abandoned and forgotten.

A Peaceful Feeling: Compilation 06/30/2022

A peaceful feeling … By Christine Bialczak

Stine Writing and Miniatures's avatarStine Writing

Its a terrific day to bypass the world and languish what’s needing to be
Done are the days of silly cartoons dangling fake lives ‘front of me
I bend to the floor, escaping the lights, from the moon accessible through the blinds
My stonewashed jeans are clean and are dry and nothing weighs on my mind
The opalescence in this worldwide debut is the beauty of an angel’s halo
A zeitgeist of long gone serenity waits while dreams of a utopia grow.

Livestock

Livestock …. by Susi Bocks

Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #237 – Zeitgeist
& Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Opalescence

the zeitgeist of the 70s
shimmering opalescence
of hope
springing forth
what we thought
eternal

now
powerful crusty men
attempt to dim our light
by deciding our future
i ache with a desire to fight
for and with my sisters

never in my lifetime
had i thought we’d be subjected
to this orchestrated control
forced upon us
our bodies
once again not our own
