These I have loved
droplets from the sky falling on my face
steam rising from a coffee mug
the aroma of cheese on a pizza slice
aromatics in boiling water on the stove
the petal of a rose that falls on my hand
puppies on the balcony watching rain
quieter than usual; lost in thoughts
they cast an absent-minded glance at me
wag their tail to acknowledge my touch
I revisit a poem and wonder
where it all came from
water trickles on the window
creating its own zig-zag paths
like thoughts that once occurred
but left to find a life of their own
the gentle notes from a flute
reverberate through the air
take me back to a dark theatre
where I first saw actors lip-syncing
this divine song on a large screen
I caress the keyboard to say thanks
It opens up the world to me
in my cocooned existence
I wander between open tabs
my hand on a mouse
my thoughts on the run
It redirects unfinished thoughts
It almost completes my life…
All these have been my loves

This is terrific, Reena! ❤️

Reena loved the poem and especially how much technology is a love of yours to help you escape…🩷

Technology is a connector, a gateway to knowledge, not just an escape route.

I agree, Reena, that in this poem you transform ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences and that it bridges the gap between timeless beauty and modern existence. I love that water plays an important part in your life from the ‘droplets from the sky falling on [your] face’ to the ‘steam rising from a coffee mug’ and the ‘aromatics in boiling water on the stove’, and the water trickling on the window. I love that you write about revisiting a poem and wondering where it all came from – that resonated with me.

Yes. I often feel I was a medium at that moment.

What a beautifully crafted poem! I was captivated by the way you transform ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences. Your vivid imagery—the raindrops on your face, the steam from a coffee mug, the puppies quietly watching the rain, and the wandering thoughts reflected in trickling water—creates a gentle, meditative atmosphere that invites the reader to slow down and simply be.
I especially loved the closing lines, where the keyboard becomes more than a tool—it becomes a bridge between solitude and connection, giving unfinished thoughts a voice and a destination. That idea is both deeply modern and profoundly human.
