That final line lands hard, Reena. The whole poem builds to it, unprocessed thoughts becoming filtered, consciousness rejecting what doesn’t fit, and then that gap between what you once hoped to be and what actually happened. “Reality bites” after all that filtering feels both honest and sad. A perfectly tight tanka that holds the whole weight of compromise.
