The Story – Beginning and End

You are just a character, so you have to follow my instructions.

The character does a few somersaults on the page, changes colour like a chameleon, and shows a face that looks AI-generated.

This won’t help me carry the story forward.

He waves his hand like a magical wand and changes the shape of a few other characters, “They might act differently than what you had in mind.” He acts like a music director, planting rhythm in the chaos to make people want to listen.

The page is silent, the writer welcomes the pause as a pivot and resumes writing.

  1. Great story, and this was my fave part: “planting rhythm in the chaos to make people want to listen.” I’m pondering it in hopes of improving my writing!

    1. I feel like a medium at times, with no control on the words (minor editing follows). If I read old pieces, I feel I cannot do it again. It was something that happened and ended on the day of creation.

I’ve actually had the experience of reading a forgotten post and thinking (just for a moment) ‘Hey! That writer’s pretty good! Wish I could write like that!”

btw this is a good example of the true mgic of the blogosphere, experiencing identification with a person I would never meet… having the most fundamental of connections: “Damn! I’ve felt that way!”
