Shunned

The artist walked to the dais to receive the award, her gown’s train carrying a not-so-glorious past.

Despite being chucked out of her job for asking uncomfortable questions, and her marriage failing because she did not give in to gaslighting and unfair demands, she stood firm.

She walked through a subway every day, and empowering murals on the walls strengthened her resolve.

The experience, coupled with her daily encounters with the empowering murals, awakened her latent talent for working with colours, and she evolved into an artist.

She ended her award-acceptance speech with the line “I survived and thrived, because I refused to bear the cross.”

Trailblazers emerge from a trial by fire.

  1. and…and! though I didn’t know there was a subway stop near the Six Sentence Café & Bistro (but then again, the magic of the joint is that is has what it needs to have for the widest variety of characters and stories)

hope you don’t mind the choice of clothing in the description of a woman in front of the Café in our second Six lol
