The artist walked to the dais to receive the award, her gown’s train carrying a not-so-glorious past.
Despite being chucked out of her job for asking uncomfortable questions, and her marriage failing because she did not give in to gaslighting and unfair demands, she stood firm.
She walked through a subway every day, and empowering murals on the walls strengthened her resolve.
The experience, coupled with her daily encounters with the empowering murals, awakened her latent talent for working with colours, and she evolved into an artist.
She ended her award-acceptance speech with the line “I survived and thrived, because I refused to bear the cross.”
Trailblazers emerge from a trial by fire.

Loved your take, Reena. ‘Trailblazers emerge from a trial by fire.’ Wonderful.

Congratulations. She got a prize. Interesting explanation why: “I survived and thrived, because I refused to bear the cross.”

Those who will not embrace the lie bear the burden of the truth; this is beautiful, no?

Just wow! I’m saving this. Is it your quote?

I dunno. I think I nipped some off another person’s quote, but it’s pretty much me. But it’s yours now, cuz I like to share!

and…and! though I didn’t know there was a subway stop near the Six Sentence Café & Bistro (but then again, the magic of the joint is that is has what it needs to have for the widest variety of characters and stories)
hope you don’t mind the choice of clothing in the description of a woman in front of the Café in our second Six lol

Thank you, Clark! 😊 Would you have chosen a Nun’s attire?

am willing to, but had no sense of that (from posts and Sixes and such)
(don’t tell anyone, but, for character description purposes in my stories I have a remarkable poor fashion vocabulary… end of usually searching expensive clothing store site)

I don’t know, I think the refusal to compromise our personhood is the very act of bearing the cross.
