It is a place where relationships lived, revived or died with conversations. Connectedness was the keyword.
Plants in the same space are watered regularly, but are starved of oxygen.
What kind of oxygen are you referring to?
I remember how I felt renewed and invigorated after hearing your voice. Texts do not have the same effect.
I’ll start sending voice messages.
How about real-time connectivity?
There was silence at the other end as she checked her calendar and meetings for the day. It might be difficult to even check or record messages.
Lifestyles have changed. Technology is only an enabler.

Nice use of the prompt. I always hated telephone calls – the disembodied voice and lack of facial expressions throws me off. As a former letter writer, I keep more connected nowadays with text. FaceTime is good too, but I don’t use that as much as I’d need to sit still for that!

You are so right about our need for multi-tasking. Videocalls also intrude into privacy, and the other person’s comfort needs to be checked.

Yes if course, but it’s good to have multi-modal options

Very good. Yes technology is a an enabler, but over reliance on the devices may come back to bite us.

Life can almost collapse if the devices run out of power. We will stand isolated.

I liked your technology connection here and up until a week ago, I might not have understood that some people find it a challenge to even “listen” to a voice message – but it IS the case – and pretty sad that our schedules are so busy to where we cannot record or check voice messages the way we likely should.

Privacy is a constraint in a crowded place. I can read in silence.

Exactly right, Reena. Technology has changed so much and not always for the better. Nice take on the prompt. Brava!

Reena, to me technology is increasingly turning our lives into business. An ugly business.

AI will further change the scenario.
A majority of people who send connection requests on LinkedIn are the ones selling something. I don’t mind the ones offering work assignments though 🤣

We rely on texts too much, we need to call more.

Thank you for this reminder. Nothing can replace speaking to a loved one.

I love that final sentence. We’ve lost more than we’ve gained, I believe.
