The ringing phone cuts through the eerie silence and darkness in the house. She refuses to answer it, or end her self-imposed exile. She has been seething in rage on the injustice inflicted on her by the family.
Deliberate cruelty cuts through oneβs very existence, and destroys faith in filial or human bonds. The pain is intense.
She wonders if passive aggression is equivalent to waging a battle, or should she think of other means.

I hope she finds other means. Passive aggressive behaviors are destructive. And a bit of an oxymoron.

imo, it might be best (and, by implication from the the story) to ‘think of other means’. This because to turn all the negative emotion inwards not only is not comfortable, it has a way of attaching itself to the person. Negative energy sometimes settles in and becomes remarkably self-destructive.
Interesting Six!

Sure, passive-aggression is one way to wage war, but it’s likely to prolong rather than solve anything. Nice take on the cue.

Thanks, Deborah! At times, it may be the only way to express dissent.

I think she should think that the only person she is hurting is herself. Rather than waging a battle she should be seeking peace. Good writing.
