Dumb-founded

All she knew about this celebrity guest was the note sent by his personal assistant, and a few news clips. She pulled out a picture of his, and pasted another face on it.  “Glad to meet you, Sir! Hope you enjoy our hospitality.” Her tenacity and tolerance for tantrums was well-known, but this time around, … Continue reading Dumb-founded

Gigi assembled her planners, her calendars, her pens, pouches, and post-its before her on the desk and stood over them like a general surveying maps. These are bits and pieces of her life, and there is no point in denying or denigrating it. Her autobiography would be a collage made from these, and a little … Continue reading Life – Authored by ….

Nor Any Drop to Drink

Nor any drop to drink ….by Von Smith

Von Smith's avatarAbove the Noise

The shampoo is in my eyes when the shower coughs and spits and stops. I grab blindly for the towel; missing twice before my fingers find it.

Great, I think, and much stronger words pass through my mind on their way to my mouth. I wipe my eyes, head, and shoulders, still conjuring curses. The shower remains mute.

Thank goodness I shaved first!

I stumble to the kitchen with the towel wrapped around my waist. No water there either, except two bottles of Pellegrino.

I grab one of the bottles and wonder “could I make coffee with this?” I open the bottle and take a big drink. I love the mineral and bubbles in my throat.
I get a large cup and spoon in the best instant coffee I have. I add the Pellegrino and watch the strange foam form as I stir it. Then I open the microwave and…

Unwritten magic

Unwritten Magic —- by Eugenia

Unknown's avatarPoesy Perspectives

again, no water!

lips parched and dry

longing to sup dew from

a single leaf clinging to life

before its last disconnect.

concerned for her children,

she harangued customer service,

her rant lapsed on the weary.

come morning, the skies awakened

in fairytale fashion, cascading tears

from unwritten poems.

a dazzling performance

Well Water

Well Water ….. by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

A breakdown in domestic water supply caused the town leaders to consider new alternatives and they made an appointment to talk with the well water sales engineer today.  When Mr. Jones arrived, they asked him what type of guarantee they would get for their money, if they decided to invest in this well water system technology.  Mr. Jones said that he would need a retainer to do a study and depending on what information came from that, then he could give them an estimate.  Mr. Jones told them, “Since you can’t see ground water, we have hydrologists on staff that utilize scientific methods to find water, but this can be a crap shoot and sometimes your neighbor may have water and you won’t.  We will have some test holes drilled and check our records that we have acquired for all the holes that were drilled in this area and that…
