Hello and welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge. I missed last week and maybe the week before but today? I’ve managed to scrape up enough letters to whitewash them onto this virtual board and, amazingly enough, qualify to participate in Zoe’s bloghop, Six Sentence Stories. More specifically, I’ve enough letters to make up 6 sentences. Those are the rules. Write 6 sentences of any length, rhyming or not, prose, poetry, fiction or non, just so there’s 6 of them. And oh yeah, you have to incorporate the weekly word cue (or is that weekly cue word?). This week’s word is “smoke”.
Come on! Give it a try. Me? I find it ridiculously challenging. But it is fun and if you can forget yourself for a short time or however long it takes to write a six sentence story, you just might discover something new about yourself! The best…

Its that time of year again when we look towards one we love with thoughts of what can we do to express the love we feel for them.
When you live in a fantasy world its easy to imagine the love of your life as being all the things you think are important. The practical world is of course a whole different kettle of fish.
There are plenty of romantic stories about unrequited love, where the relationship has been going on for some time all in one person’s head. Because we are humans part of our biology is to experience attraction to another person and usually this is physical in nature especially if you are male.

As far as anyone is aware, the universe consistently acts according to predictable laws and since God created our world, He established rules for the universe to follow, and humanity must abide by this unique set of guidelines. A cosmic constant known as the ‘golden ratio’ is said to be found in the shape of hurricanes, elephant tusks and even in galaxies. This ratio is the key to everything from encrypting computer data, to the numbers of spirals on a sunflower head, our own limbs and why the Mona Lisa is so pleasing to the eye. These spiral patterns are also found in pineapples, cauliflowers and pine cones. Now researchers say this ratio is also seen in the topology of space-time, affecting the entire universe as a whole.
Our universe behaves consistently, because it is built on scientific laws with mathematical constructs. Kepler had faith that a uniform law could…

Cyril Rum has his values in the right place….

You might say Cyril Rum was an eccentric. He lived alone at the end of the street, his yard was unkempt, his friends were one Mildred Thrup his next door neighbour and even she would say she wasn’t all that sure about him.
No one seemed to know when it was Cyril moved into his house, it was like he was suddenly there.
Cyril was marked as weird by the people in his street. They liked to know every one’s business and Cyril, they decided, was not like them. They felt knowing each other’s business was a healthy thing. But Cyril gave them nothing; at least nothing worthwhile and gossipy.
When he walked down the street he nodded to his neighbours, bid them a good day and moved on. He wasn’t one for conversation.
The neighbours didn’t like that, Cyril had an obligation to his neighbours to tell them who…
