One Step: a #writephoto #tankaprose

It’s a space I could call home. A manucured lawn, a tended landscape, slate pavers laid in a welcoming walkway. All I need to do is step through this open door.
But the surrounding darkness ensnares me. A paralyzing anxiety consumes me. Would that I let this tantalizing fear go and take…
Just one more step. Just one …

With ears as
Open as her heart
She listened

dreaming (actually)
he dreamed
a dream
of living
and lived it
while he slept
lived
like a full blown being
never knowing
he was not real
in his dream
he knew
the things he did
had substance
meant something
in the dream
of his dream
he dreamt himself
adrift
in the dream
he rose higher
there
the colours shone
the gates swung open
he could approach
but
he could not
step through
one dream short
he was
one dream short
just
one dream
too short
of his own

The visitor from Number 22 ….by Michael
PROMPT
This week’s prompt moves around two points
- A sudden event that feels magical in its impact
- Significance of numbers or any superstition if you find it interesting
I wasn’t sure if it was the flash of light, the rumbling in the sky or the shaking of the house that frightened me the most.
My mind was conflicted by fleeing or hiding. I opted for the latter and slid under the bed, hoping I’d made the right decision.
Once there, I found everything was silent. It was like the lull before the storm, that moment when you realise you are in the eye of the storm and any second now the wind will roar back from the opposite direction.
After a moment, came the whirr. Softly at first and growing in intensity as it seemed to be coming down on top of me. It was deafening with a rotating light…

Congratulate Sadje on the double whammy 🙂

Since I am not coming up with anything new, I am going to tell you all about an event that happened around six weeks ago in our family.
The birth of my grand children. Two of them, born to my daughter and daughter in law within a span of two days! Isn’t that amazing. A co-incident that is hard to recreate. The births were originally supposed to be two weeks apart, but as is the way of nature, the babies arrived just two days apart.
It almost felt like we had twins in the house. Two of them crying almost simultaneously, needing to be picked up simultaneously and changed simultaneously. It is true that I was just the grandmother providing logistic support but still quite an unusual situation.
So we enjoyed the two bundles of babiness joyand marveled at the timings of Mother Nature!

Socrates, Plato and Aristotle
Euripides gave Socrates a small work by Heraclitus of Ephesus entitled On Nature to read, and asked him afterwards what he thought of it. Socrates replied, “The part I understand is excellent, and so, I think, is the part that I have not understood, but the book requires a diver from Delos to get to bottom of it.” There is a metaphor in here, but in order to make sense out of what Socrates said, we need to understand what quality were inherent in a Delian diver that would make this more meaningful than, say, that of a diver from the island of Samos or Lesbos? What is it about Delian divers that make them better at uncovering hidden things in the deep places? Is a diver from Delos more highly skilled at swimming and diving for objects of treasure at great depths?
The island of Delos is part of…

कमाल ही तो है
