PROMPT #125

You think she is vulnerable

she needs to be protected

you forget

when you were vulnerable

in her womb

she protected you with all her might

till you became independent

then you forgot

and started treating her badly

perhaps the fact

that your very existence

depends on her

makes you hate her

as people hate most

on whom they are dependent

’cause they remind them

of their own

vulnerability

Never your inferior,

While I created you,

And you fathered me,

We were created,

Neither to dominate,

Nor to be subservient,

Two different versions of the same creation,

Meant to co-exist,

Neither I seek your condemnation,

Nor your appreciation,

Two different purposes on the same journey,

Meant to illuminate the darkness,

Hold the light,

Not to compete,

Only to complement,

Nature created us to share her space,

Not to hold daggers at each other’s throat,

And put the other down,

We seek each other,

Neither superior,

Nor equal,

Never inferior,

Two different sides,

Like it was meant to be.

They say

She is weak

She needs a man

A father, a husband, a son

To carry her burden in life

She says

If men were ones to give birth

The human race would have died long ago

If men were the ones to hold the family together

The concept of families would be long dead

She not only a woman

She is a superwoman

Doing the work of ten people simultaneously

Yet managing to hold her job as well

She carries the weight of her world on her shoulders

And smiles

She was afraid that her top would come undone, so she tested out her bathing suit under a torrent of water and to her surprise it held up.  She was not sure if she should embrace or conceal her feminine traits.  She loved the way her new bathing suit looked on her, but it was so revealing and she was basically a shy girl.  She wore it because it was in style, and girls all across the country started wearing bikinis.  She thought about wearing it as a mutiny against her parents, as her mom preferred her to wear more subdued clothing, which always made her feel as though her body was something to be ashamed of, and this caused her a lot of humiliation.  The suit would work out great for being in the water, but it did not hide an inch of her body, instead it exposed so…
