The Bag Lady’s take on Exploration Challenge #126

rugby843's avatarThe Bag Lady

“It’s none of your concern” she said sharply to a young man offering help. Pushing the cart up the sidewalk, she strained at the weight and slight incline of the cement. This was a daily occurrence for the homeless woman but she never dared be away from her tawdry possessions that overflowed the conveyance. She refused care of help from strangers and preferred isolation. After years of being hounded and used by an uncaring family, the life she led by herself was not an unhappy one.

Rejoining the World: Reena’s Exploration Challenge 126

Rejoining the world ….. by Isaiah46ministries

isaiah46ministries's avatarHelp from Heaven

We are aked to write a post, using the theme of isolation, for Reena’s Exploration Challenge #126. Here is mine:

Isolation feels like safety to my hurting heart.

I just need to escape the inhumanity of others.

I stay nestled in my home, away from everyone,

From the harmful words they use, I take cover.

But, the price to pay for security is much too high,

As I miss the robin’s song and the cawing of crows.

So, I’ll rejoin the world and experience its richness,

And, in doing so, my resilience and power will grow.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge # 126 – All by myself

All by myself …. by Sadje

Welcome back!

PROMPT #126

Here is the theme for this week.

~*~

Being by myself

I feel not alone but lonely

The world has forgotten me

The ties and links all abandoned

Alone, I savor but isolation haunts me

Why?

Is it the answer to my troubles?

To keep away will you be free?

My mind and body have given up

But don’t please you too give up on me

My heart craves human company

Do hold my hand at the end of my journey

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #126 – Isolation

rec126-isolation

Inside the bubble for a whole month
How would I spend my time in isolation?
Easy peasy, lemon squishy, I’d read and write
I’d be able to read all the books I’ve wanted to read
But didn’t have the time to do it – from the classic
Romance, thriller, suspense, love stories and others
I’d be able to write some fiction, nonfiction, musings
Post some photographs and stories on my blog
Read some of the posts from other bloggers
Comment on them, like them and reblogged
I’d be able to see what’s happening online
Ring up people, what’s up or viber them
Write and send cards to family and friends
Sign up and do some open online courses
There’s a whole lot of subjects to choose from
From different universities around the world
Yes, I think I’d be able to manage a month off

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #126 — Isolation

Isolation …by Jade Li/lisa

Lisa or Li's avatarTao-Talk

An oak tree, alone on a hill, may grow big and strong,
but when gale-force winds descend, it may topple down.

An oak forest, where trunks stand side by side, limb
to limb, feet entwined with each other’s, will long endure.

Oak trees do not choose where they grow. Fate chooses
where the acorn finds its way into the soil.

Where do you find yourself planted?
Did you choose it?
No? Will you pull yourself up?
Will you walk to the hill?
Walk to the forest?
Or fly where you will?

Isolation

Isolation ….by Aishwarya

kittysverses's avatarKitty's Verses

Ask him not,

The one who chooses,

Isolation,

Out of his own will,

A number of reasons he’d give,

Talk-a-phobia, serenity,

Scorn towards fellow beings,

Varied others,

Ask him,

The one who wasn’t considered,

Worthy enough by a friend to be a close confidant,

Worthy of friendship,

Worthy for a friendly outing,

Yearning,

Isolation,

Would slowly teach,

Stronger than self,

None is,

Vulnerability,

Longing,

Would only weaken thy resolve,

Pain of belonging,

He’d wisely tell.

Craving Isolation …by Christine Bialczak

Craving Isolation

I crave isolation.
After that first call
I wanted to close my door
and hide under the covers.
Two children
meant more to me
than isolation.

I crave isolation.
After the second call
I wanted to close my door
and hide under the covers.
One daughter and new love
meant more to me
than isolation.

I crave isolation.
No other calls have come
I still want to close my door
and hide under the covers.
People who love me
let me know
I mean more to them
than isolation.

I am learning
to resist the craving
for isolation.

Poetics: “Bartender, I’d like to close out my tab-oo”

Amaya hosts this week’s Poetics on dverse …. Taboo topics. Go ahead and explore.

Gospel Isosceles's avatardVerse

Peek-a-taboo, I see you! Tonight we are going to turn the pub into a psychological strip club as we bare it all. Welcome! I’m your host, Amaya Engleking.

What is considered to be taboo certainly depends upon the wider cultural context in which the subject is broached. As I was checking the dVerse archives to see the last time the subject of ‘taboo’ was used for a prompt, I saw that in 2011 the prompt writer gave the examples of sex, politics, and religion for what are considered to be “don’t-go-there” topics in polite Western societal discourse. Maybe one wouldn’t want to get too into championing the cause of the proletariat at a Fourth of July block party, but I’d surmise that as poets we are almost expected (and counted on) to write about these three so-called banned topics. And maybe times are indeed a’ changin’ because it…

Oops! I did it again!

Oops! I did it again ….by Punam

Thank you, Mich, for pointing out that comments are disabled on this post! This happened once earlier too! Please, please leave your precious feedback, for my writing is nothing without your love.

One day….

Yes, we had to start from somewhere

Yes, it is okay to have a day to mark that beginning

But for humanity’s sake stop mouthing stale platitudes!

Let the moth-eaten adjectives that you air once a year

remain in your dusty, masculine cupboard

I am much more than the curve of my breast or the size of my butt

but you are myopic, visualizing me just as an object

correct this glitch in your thinking circuit

this one day of paean singing combined with putting on pedestal

is trust me, just tokenism and you know it too!

And you! You who body-shame,

age-shame and deride your sisters

pass judgements from the comfort of your position
