Reena’s Exploration Challenge Rules

This started as a stream of consciousness written one day while depressed. I updated it for here.

Pandemic: The New Normal

written by Tessa Dean

March through June 2020

As I gaze unseeingly out the window at the now empty streets and sidewalks, I can hardly remember when everything changed. I listen for my neighbors. They are usually banging in and out of their apartments all day, laughing and shouting at each other. They holler hello as their visitors arrive. Hugging and kissing each other.

The community room is usually busy as people come and go either looking for a book in the small library or gathering in groups to talk and do activities while keeping each other company. One group colors every day. We have painting classes in there twice…

Responding to Reena Saxena’s prompt #138.“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are players. They have their entries and exits” famously said Shakespeare”.https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2020/06/04/reenas-exploration-challenge-138/

A play in two acts:

aAct 1. William Edgeford-Hill. a.k.a. Billy Bananas.

Was that my morning alarm buzzer forcing me into wakefulness, no such luck, it was the sound of the recess bell summoning me to enter the hell they called recess. Maybe this time I could escape the devils clutches and grab twenty minutes of peace. I sighed, it was not to be, there he was right on cue, the devil followed by his minions, trotting over to greet me. I planted my feet firmly on the ground and braced for impact.

” Hey, Billy Bananas, where do you think you’re going.” hissed the devil as his right fist thundered into my left upper arm.

I grimaced, trying not…

Rock and roll

Rock and roll….by Aishwarya

There’s a well known and a true saying, “People come and go”. None is a constant here. No one is hand picked to be a part of life and no one can be held back. In everyone’s own sweet time and place, we get to be part of each other’s lives.

Our names, possessions accumulated, are just but an identity created here. It wasn’t conceived when we were born and in all probability will be forgotten when we leave.

If we were to appear in the same form would we be graciously accepted or fearfully ignored? The inevitable doors of death is a humble equaliser for us all. What we choose to do while we are here, is upon us, before the exit, timely or untimely. It isn’t then for us whine that we weren’t given a chance.

Ready to rock and roll albeit any expectations.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #138 – “All the world’s a stage”

All the world’s a stage…. by Lady Lee

Life is like a play – we go through the stages of our lives. We have roles, child or adult, sister or brother, mother or father, student or employed, married or single, rich or poor, optimist or pessimist. We are social beings, living and acting according to the norms of our society, culture, groups and races. Our social relationships help define our sense of self. I know how important first impression makes and I can be socially judged in the blink of an eye. It’s very important to trust our instincts. We should listen and communicate, until we know someone’s depth.

I wish life can be that simple

the world is a stage

and we are the mere players

then we can blame

the producer, director, writer

all in one in this case

with no responsibility

of our acts

as we are just puppets

where someone else is pulling

the strings

and sleep comfortably

but if it’s

my life my rules

then the whole responsibility lies on so

f our choices

our decisions

our action

our reactions

take the full credit and

exit

with full contentment

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are players. They have their entries and exits” famously said Shakespeare.
Shakespeare got it all wrong. Life is what we choose, and everything else is just existence.

The suggestion that life is pre-determined is always up for debate.
We do have choice.
What we choose can be to our benefit or not.
I made choices in life that seemed a good idea at the time but in hindsight was it because I was seeking an easy route through life as I sought security?
The choices I made I tried to make the best of and fortunately for me I found I enjoyed them after a while.
Working in the public sector, exposing yourself to the whims of so many when you are basically a shy and retiring person is daunting to say the least.
There’s a part of…

The Show Must Go On

The show must go on …… by VJ Knutson

Waiting in the wings
absent an audience
what play will unfold
when the next curtain rises –
and who will hold centre stage?

(A tanka for Reena’s Exploration challenge in which she references Shakespeare’s:  “All the world’s a stage….”.  Image my own.)
