Enchanted, a decima ……….. by s.s.

How far does optimism go?
Let’s find out…join me for the ride
coz only when you’re by my side
I see rainbows in tomorrows
ribbons of music tied with a bow
gifts of the yet undiscovered
lyrics to heydays up ahead
So string along your old guitar
Darling, let’s sing along with our
imaginings, stay enchanted…

hope, confidence and optimism
will go as far
as we allow it
some see nothing
but miracles occurring
all around them
some find it hard
to reach for any positive
in their situations
and then there are those
who understand
life is about acceptance

PROMPT #149
“How far does optimism go?”
~*~
I think there are two types of people in the world;
Those who are optimistic and those who aren’t.
Optimism cannot be learned or acquired, you either have it in your personality or you don’t.
So for an optimist, there is no end to their optimism. They will continue to see things with rose-colored glasses on, regardless of the many disappointments they suffer in life. The clouds will have a silver lining for them and there will always be light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Of course, they will have periods of time when this optimism will nosedive, but as is the case with most people suffering from optimism, the disease…

Mindly Spirit
Mindly Spirit ..,. by cozyquietcorner
I walked ahead, following the bright rays streaming from the gaps between the canopies of the tall trees. I was getting tired, but something compelled me to forge ahead. My last memory had been of sitting before the fireplace, sipping brandy and finalising the seating arrangements; when I found myself alone, trekking in a forest just two days before my wedding. Where was I? How did I arrive here?
I looked at the sky. Preferring indoor activities, it was difficult for me to determine if it was dusk or dawn. I could feel the beginnings of a stress headache, which would soon accompany my aching feet and growling stomach. As though the wedding preparations spiralling out of control and essentric in-laws wasn’t enough, my meticulous schedule would be shot to hell with this ill-timed venture. Someone had to have realised I was missing and would’ve alerted the authorities…

Interlope
Interlope …… by tiredhamster
Let them enter, the eyeless murmurs
Peering in as children had once done.
They’re not really there behind the window:
Faceless reflections, silhouettes without
skin or name, occupied by a memory
Refusing to leave. Let them into this night.
Some may gather by our fire, a dim voice
Grasping within; others will dash about,
Trying to find themselves behind a vase.
And then when sun approaches
Touch, they will slide beneath shadows.
Some will become lost elsewhere,
Others will return, black shapes stretching
Across glass, close to knowing.

In Between
“In between”….. by Len

She died in her sleep, two months following their 70th wedding anniversary, and was buried four days later.
He spent the funeral in a dream. Dreams of their wedding day, a life well lived, the last day they spent together reading quietly in their favorite chairs. He could not let her go and requested a closed casket funeral, refusing to look on her lifeless body.
He arrived from the funeral entering a house haunted by her presence.
” Shall I put the kettle on” the voice came from the kitchen. He rushed eagerly forward but she wasn’t there. Her voice is still in my head, he thought as he reached for the kettle, filled it with water and placed it on the stove. Reminders of her permeated the house. Her clothes in the closet…

Hesitant to love you #poetry #writephoto
Hesitant to love you ….. by Jude
I’m nervous for this week and I can’t understand why.
I feel something impending and I just can’t shake that feeling.
But for now I’ll keep writing each night, and try to alleviate this trepidation.

Does your sixth sense go haywire too?
Anyway, the ponderous thought from this week’s Saturday Symphony inspired me to write this,
Hesitant to love you

The love withheld
Is the one we want the most
Desire leaks from your supple lips
As they moisten my cheek with a kiss veiled in innocence
Your fingers graze my arm as you turn to leave
Your need raking lust through my nerves
You know I want you
But you want me to love you
Alas, I do not remember how
My broken heart carries only a phantom love
A shade of the dreams you see in me
My mind is willing
But my soul beseeches reprieve
Yearns for…
