Tick-Tock, ticking clock

Warning, scaring, reminding

Of life’s transience.

We are but mere visitors

Sustained by nature’s wish.

#Deadline!

Deadline ….. by Radhika

Mired in a labyrinth,

a constant battle ensues

keeping pace with

each passing moment.

Fraught with the burden of

schedules and targets

payments and presentations

books and exams,

digital inundation,

competing with the

frenzy of the ticking clock

pressure mounts.

Often,

the emotional dam bursts,

a deluge of chaos transpires.

Evanescent,

time lures us

into its deceptive loop.

Life shrinks

as # deadline is trending now!

Vision Apparent

Vision Apparent ….. by Aishwarya

kittysverses's avatarKitty's Verses

Sun glares through drawn curtains,

Orange hues, summer’s theme,

Sweaty afternoons,

Masking memories of chilly winters.

The day progress,

Without weather getting any better,

Hot, hotter, hottest, slogan of the season,

Tires of the day,

Lullabies me to sleep.

A crack in the window,

Lets breeze enter the room unannounced,

Jostling me back to senses,

Dimness of surroundings,

Assures me it’s night still,

Turning back to catch up on sleep,

The outlines of a protruding twig,

Acts as an aura,

A formless form,

Seeps through walls of the room,

Laments tales of deceit,

Those known strangers faking a goody good smile,

Sorrows of premature death,

That, not having a chance to live while they enjoy,

Chill runs through those warm environs,

Lump in my throat unable to scream,

A disquiet soul ,

Hushed stillness prevails,

Daring me to sleep,

The clock strikes two.

The Fountain

The Fountain ….. by Ramya Tantry

Ramya Tantry's avatarAnd Miles to go before I sleep...

photo by Zac Ong via Unsplash

After untiring perseverance and relentless energy, I could see the fountain, right in front of me, jetting water into the sky giving a dramatic effect that compelled me to capture the moment in my mind and in my camera, just so that it will last forever with me.

The images came out pretty good, however, one of the images had a dark silhouette passing by and I pretty much remember, there was not a single soul out there when I captured the pictures.

That made me question, does the fountain of youth actually restore the youth or does it take away life altogether for immortalityand at that very moment, I could feel a sudden chill behind me…

Spiders

Spiders …. By Len

Responding to Reena’s Exploration Challenge #155 with the theme ” HORROR “.
https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2020/10/01/reenas-exploration-challenge-155/

I sit curled on my bed, clutching a broom, staring at the cobwebs appearing on the ceiling. I see no spiders, just cobwebs. How can that be? Where are the spiders? Cause and effect. I see the effect but what is the cause. I jump up on my bed and sweep the broom across the ceiling, yelling a battle cry as the cobwebs disintegrate and disappear from my sight. I sit down on the bed and yell in triumph and relief. I glance up and notice the cobwebs appearing again, doubling in frequency this time. They soon cover the ceiling and slowly start their descent down the wall creeping towards me. I jump up in hysteria, screaming in anger, swishing the broom against the wall, curling it upward towards the ceiling. No matter how much I sweep…

White Heather…. By Aishwarya

Her charm enticing him,

Hurriedly says, ” I do”,

Blushing bride,

Turns to reciprocate,

Clutching white heather for luck,

Audience gasp,

She screams,

Silhouette of paleness greets,

Zap.

Maria was annoyed as she entered her house, hands full of grocery bags and medical supplies. She had knocked and rang the doorbell repeatedly, waiting for her fiancé Erik to open the door. He must have fallen asleep on the first floor guest bedroom, she groused mentally.

Relieved of her burden, she went in search of her six year old. The house seemed a little quiet.
No TV, no whispering. Nothing. Was Rachel taking a nap as well?
Maria frowned. Her daughter was…
