crowding in my head

what is the purpose of life

etc.etc.
no satisfying answers

now stopped asking

thought why not

quit asking others

unlearn all the rubbish fed to youand

ask your inner self

get the answers

right or wrong

they will be your  answers

meanwhile

life is all

about

dreaming

setting goals

and

creating purpose for living

Aitbaar (Trust) — hecblogger’s take on Exploration Challenge #171

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #171 – You used to be Beautiful

You used to be beautiful …… by relaxitsallwrite

We have a dialogue prompt this week ….with a twist!

What is the twist? You need to take it forward from the perspective of the opposite gender, not yours. You may use the dialogue as a theme, beginning or end. Your piece can be fiction, poetry, an anecdote, historical fiction, biographical sketch, an essay on perspectives or anything you can think of, with your fingers on the keyboard.

Please visit Reena for the original challenge, https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2021/02/04/reenas-exploration-challenge-171/

My Submission:

You used to be beautiful.

You would kiss me when you came home, or at least acknowledge me. Now, you dart to your computer to find out how many new likes you received.

I try to hug you from behind, but you shake me off.

I bring you tea, and instead of a thank you, I get a grunt and flick of your chin, indicating you want me to go away…

I watched as she glowed in the limelight of success. It was me who stood behind her while she pursued her dreams. Dreams of becoming the CEO of her company.

I provided support, financial and moral when she needed it. It was not a solo effort but always a joint one. And now that she was being hailed as one of the ten most influential women in the country, she…

I will…

I will …….. by Punam

Unicorn chasing, life became a blur
skimming along the surface, moving swimmingly
unexpected storms caused untold turbulence
in the ocean of sleep
despondency, a thin blanket
tattered with bullet holes of memories
barely covers the aching bones of drudgery
shivering uncontrollably I look for a lining of comfort but there’s none
I try to sit still spinning the fine threads of tumultuous thoughts
whys, whats and whens tie me in inextricable knots
reminiscences of days bygone,
when the mathematics of life eloquently overcame the geography of living,
chain me, hindering further movement
the sun seems so far off;
a shrivelled dream in a firmament gone black
all the nows are steeped in a charcoal haze
rushing crazily into a vortex of helplessness
I write my name with cold and disobedient fingers
the outline of anaemic morning filters through the half open gaze
I had been blind to the secret door…

Darkness holds light

Darkness holds light ….. by Aishwarya

Gates of my mind shut itself down,

At the first failure it met,

I cribbed, I cried,

I ranted, I rued,

I despaired, I dreaded,

I lost when,

I accepted defeat without nudging myself to try.

I broke boundaries when,

I shrugged myself away from shackles of shiver engulfing,

Darkness holds itself dear, only to let light shine through,

Not to defeat you.

You are the light, you shall shine through.

Marking Time

Chris Hall's avatarluna's on line

Days which merge
one into another
marking time
tied down
by new normal’s rope.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock

A ray of light
spills through the bars
a gap for hope
to squeeze through.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock

How long before
with the tiny prick
of a needle
we widen the chink
in covid’s armour
and creep through
to emerge, blinking
in the light?

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…

What do you see # 67 – February 1 2021

( For the visually challenged reader, the photo shows a partially open gate, which is thrown in relief by a light filtering from a doorway)

I hide in the dark shadow.
Small, afraid of the light
Things I see in the dark
Feel familiar, safe.
Whispers, comforting.
Scratching, claws on wood
Remind me there is life outside.
The dark bars drawn by the light.
I think of the Tower of London.
Traitors Gate, prison bars
Being held by shadowy thoughts
Too many nameless things
To make me feel small.
To shrink further into darkness…
