Wise Wednesdays – Why Women’s Groups for a cause where gender does not matter?
Why Women’s Groups for a cause where gender does not matter?
So often, I come across people (other than the involved women themselves), enthusiastic about creating women’s groups.
To say the least, it does not help inclusion.
On the other end, I’m compelled to think about hidden motives. What do they gain by treating women in a workplace or social circle, as a subset of the mainstream?
Groups or events to deal with women’s issues, a platform for fearless sharing, having someone to listen and understand in a non-judgemental manner is fine. But why are women’s groups needed for mainstream life events which involves everyone, irrespective of gender?
Is it your vulnerability? Is it a mechanism to instil fear?
Vulnerability and fear are what make you stay in a subservient place. This applies to all underprivileged segments as much as women.
But do you really want to be there? Do…

Beyond First Impressions
We get a lot of dope on creating the right impression, not getting a second chance to create a first impression and so on, from all over. It makes sense, given the fact that the human attention span is 8 seconds, one second less than that of a goldfish. The imprint created in those few seconds does matter.
However, it does not change the fact, that life and relationships are much larger than this brief first interaction. All the ‘firsts’ occur only once. Relationships need to move beyond that, and mature into mutually beneficial bonds.
There are 5SMART( Sincerity, Modesty, Authenticity, Respect and Trust ) components that build up a personality, beyond the appearance. The absence of these components also builds up a personality. And these carry the power to either re-confirm, neutralise or negate the first impression.
SINCERITY
Dictionary meaning – ‘Sincerityis the virtue of one who…

The Feeling – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Winter is a season of recovery and preparation.” Paul Theroux
The Feeling I can see how that flowed into my life, the feeling that winter has possessed me with unexpected gratitude for respite, a stepping back from the brazen sun. The feeling that winter has possessed me, leading me along a mindful hibernation, a stepping back from the brazen sun with time to be quiet and ruminatious. Leading me along a mindful hibernation through completely different connections, with time to be quiet and ruminatious, a curious collect of creative experience. Through completely different connections with unexpected gratitude for respite, a curious collect of creative experience, I can see how that flowed into my life. Does the world go round in circles

you know music says a lot
there’s no end and no plot
takes more than one hand to clap
just a thumb and a finger to snap
sheeple selfies decompose in brawls
didn’t get the memo on awes and flaws
to perceive deception seems too lame
there’s no resolve and too many to blame
insipidity and fake news one in the same
witless souls still pitied and tattered
empathy is all that mattered
yep, simpler days sadly old hat
by the way the earth isn’t flat

Freedom is not a favour
The word ‘allowed’ in family circles of conservative societies perplexes me no end.
I see umpteen men and women assume and broadcast rights they do not really possess.
“We ‘allow’ our women to ……”
Allow????
Do they really need permission? If they ask for it, it is a social conditioning. The baby elephant does not walk even after her chains are removed, because she believes she cannot. Women have been forced to fit in these narrow jars of social expectations, where they believe they are not entitled to do certain things.
The easiest way to enslave a population is to make them think in boxes, and follow the leaders. They stop seeing everything that lies out of those boxes, and ugly truths of domination fall easily in the cracks.
They ‘believe’ it is for their safety. They ‘believe’ they cannot manage their own lives. They ‘believe’ they always need to…

You Call Them Doors?!
3 Dimensions of the First Interaction
Packaging of a product cannot be over-emphasized in the present day world. Resume writing, writing LinkedIn profiles, development of soft skills are services, which people try to sell to you, practically every day of the week.
Yet, we look in the mirror every morning, and miss the fact, that your reflection offers the first glimpse of the package. It is the first and easiest step towards expression of your personality. Each of us has this avenue of expression available to us from an early age. Parents will testify to the wilful choices made by young people, and differences of opinion in families and educational institutions, on the appropriate projection of their personalities.
The First Dimension
How you feel, and how do you wish to project yourself ? The internal conversation in your head goes on :
- “I want to break the ice today, and find a solution to this problem”.
