skyscrapers around the world …. by Lady Lee

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “In the Basement of the Goodwill Store” by Ted Kooser: musty, carpet, rust, glittering, cough, curtain, garbage, hated, found, flash, thin, forever
Skyscrapers around the world
With musty carpet being furled
Glittering curtains being curled
Outside the garbage being hurled
Mostly made of glass and no rust
And in the foyer can’t see dust
Forever flashy to impress
Have to dress up to show success
Finding things to do with finesse
Other things in life more or less
Everyone’s welcome, fat or thin
As they welcome you with a grin

Sadje’s first …… her take on Xploration Challenge #195
Reena is the host of Reena’s Xploration Challenge

Yes, it is an image prompt as you can see – but with an added twist.
Write down the first three words that come to mind on seeing this image. The words should be there on your blog.
Use these three words in your piece.
Alternatively, you could also use synonyms of these three words.
➰➰➰
Three words;
Crescent
Reflection
Skyscrapers
The crescent moon shone its light on the tall skyscrapers
The light reflecting off the buildings in the still waters of the lake
A sense of deceptive calm surrounding the night scene
The world is holding its breath in anticipation
A sense of dread, an apprehension, a foreboding
Hearts and mind stilled with overwhelming fear
Waiting for the bright sunlight to dispel the illusion of horror

Adventure beyond the door …..by whatifweallcared
Pulling on the door, Celeste was unable to open it and realized there must be a catch somewhere that she had to release. She felt around the door, her brain in motion, trying to think and feel where the catch/hidden lock might be. 🗝️ There was, after much searching, a very tiny notch in the grain of the wood near the edge of the small door. All she had that was that tiny was an old safety pin and she carefully slid it into the notch. The door popped open a smidge and Celeste gently pulled it wide open, not sure what to expect.
Celeste had been taught by her grandma to be content and so sighed blissfully as she entered the tunnel. She’d always wished she’d had a forever sister. Someone to giggle and share secrets with. Quietly grandma reminded Celeste, “Dear, your parents weren’t meant to have…

My Angel
I asked God,”Why are you sending me on the earth, where you are not there to take care of me” and God replied ,” I’ll be giving you one angel and you’ll call her Mom and she’ll love you how I love you and care for you”, but my angel was a young girl, below 18 years of age, as soon as she got the good news of me became nervous and took pills of abortion, so before coming in this beautiful world, my life has ended and finally, I returned to God, but my body is preserved in the laboratory.

#WRITEPHOTO – cliff edge

We used to spend,
Our evenings on the green land.
High on the mountains, and
We used to sit hand in hand!!
The world was not crowded there,
Only you and me and no one else.
I longed to see you…

Only if’s ….. by hecblogger
It was a crazy evening and
don’t think it was extraordinary and
I left her doorstep and
I started walking and
I thought she would follow me and
ask me to stop and
we would be together forever but
that never happened and
she neither followed and
she did not ask me to stop and
I kept on walking and
I have come too far and
I am left only with ifs and…

Know thy treasure ….by judeitakali

She stands upon a cliff and wonders…
How far?
How long?
How true?
He roams the world and ponders…
For her?
For me?
For us?
“I have followed ambition, I have chased the dream; yet all else I found, I left behind!”

This gold
Stay ye away
Treasure that blinds one so
Whilst thy love dwindles with the tide
Alone
Be when –
my heart be sank
To lose its morning star
Beyond riches, and beyond reach
Priceless
Amour
Flee my cutlass
For need plunders my soul
And greed drives me ever further
Bleeding
Cry not
Lest sea be stained
And ye’ curse haunts me’ step
When stars be gone, and I be lost
Hopeless
Beyond
Cliff and mountain
Away from own desires
Dwells one for whom I am Desire
Yonder
This gold
my heart be sank
For need plunders my soul
When stars be gone, and I…

Sadje’s WDYS prompt #95
Reena’s exploration challenge # 194 : POLYSYNDETON
It is art of creating complex sentences, by using conjunctions instead of commas.
A book filled with simple letters of the alphabet join hands together to take a long haul wrapping up a child’s curiosity and ingenuity into a make-believe world of fiction and fantasy conjuring up creative abilities and stories beyond the imagination of the stereotyped conditioned adult.
The Passport …..by okachiko
A hundred word story for you today:
The Passport
I stood stoic as the officer flipped through the pages, every one marked except the last. He inked the rubber on an indigo-colored pad, looked up at my civvies and grown-out hair and asked, “Where did you go on vacation?” I told him the places I’d been over the last decade– Beirut, Kabul, Ukraine, Krakow. His face grew serious, and he stamped the passport. When he looked up again, a smile had bloomed on his face, and he said, sincerely, “Welcome home.”
Also for Reena’s prompt #194 on Polysyndeton, the practice of using conjunctions rather than commas, though limited in this piece. https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2021/08/12/reenas-xploration-challenge-194/
Stand by me …… By s.s.
you stand by me in the day's bright sun
or in the pouring rain
with your feet firmed to bear us both
as much in joy as in strife
when life lets us know
we need our souls
to hold hands
and stay
