Wake …..by Diana Coombes

You wake up to discover a completely different, unknown face staring back at you from the mirror. Another great prompt by https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/author/reinventionsreena/
Every morning, there is less to see.
An unknow face stares back at me in the mirror, and I know it isn’t me. I can’t see the real person behind the mask. Flashes of light, mixed in with shadows floating across my line of vision.
It’s getting worse, I know it is, but I’m not a victim.
I will learn to live with my blindness, learn to be me again.
I listen to another tutorial, get used to the monotone voice telling me what my eyes should be seeing. It is difficult, and I want to throw my mobile as far as it would go, but I need to persevere.
If I don’t I’ll be defined by my disability.
I have a job to do, and losing my…

We have a situation prompt this week
You wake up to discover a completely different, unknown face staring back at you from the mirror.
so engrossed in my
daily routines
never felt the change
suddenly
one day
I wake up to discover
an unknown face
where is that happy-go-lucky woman
full of jest for life
when did
I change so much
now full of
stamps of time
numerous lines and wrinkles
each one telling a story
story of a long journey
each wrinkle
tells
how many battles fought
how many won
how many
lost
Seventy-five years…
Not a short time

The Changeling …. by Susi Bocks

with cunning glinting
behind adventurous eyes
possibilities await
unbounded by previous restrictions
excitement and anticipation
flush through her veins
the quest for achievement
greater than thought within reach
illusion or reality
Who am I? …. by Sadje

We have a situation prompt this week
➰➰➰
Who am I?
Who are you?
What changed overnight?
Is this, the inner me emerging?
The outer shell is fracturing
Finally the truth is revealed
What I see in the mirror
It is what I always wanted
At last I’ve overcome my inhibitions
Now the world will also see
What was hidden inside of me
See the new me
See what I want you to see!

Tough …. by Mich
Tough
tough should be
my last name
for i was born to be one
i was born under one
tough situation.
tough is what
i have become
over the years
over time.
tougher i believe
i am as i age
as i continue
to navigate life
to win extraordinary
battles and wars.
until you
came along
that i discovered
the toughest
version of me
after you repeteadly
broke me in pieces.
i am at my toughest
now as i gather myself
together again and
i can’t thank you enough
for making me
the toughest
that i am today.

“Never love a wild thing…If you let yourself love a wild thing, you’ll end up looking at the sky.”
― Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Three Stories
Days of youth when nights never end
a wild haired gypsy child-woman
Silver earrings dangling
gaudy bracelets clanging
dancing to her favorite songs.
Caught up in a whirlwind
of colorful young men- yearning
to capture her body’s bright soul
tether her to their hungry embrace
put her spirit in its ‘rightful’ place.
But yet with sweet grace, she resists
elusive as a lace winged butterfly
she flits from honeyed bloom to bloom
never lingering in a heart too long
She takes to the skies, soaring ever higher.
Author’s Note: It’s our 11th anniversary at dVerse and I am hosting today’s Poetics. The prompt is choosing one of 11 lines from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and using it to inspire a poem. The…

Invisible strings – The bonds we weave …by Jude Itakali

It begins with a phrase that stirs the mind
eyes twinkle, mischief lingers on smiles
first strings of curiosity
when intrigue bewitches hearts
instinct blindfolds reason
and puppeteers play
till you’ve fallen
dancing tunes
time once
scorned
feed thy soul with caution For desire, it yearns
Free my bonds to your fear Connect us with Love
aches
shake minds
while in hearts
emotions quake
Dams strung to control
for minds and hearts are tamed
but souls are meant to be free
they tag and groan against all strings
for they know what puppet love becomes…
just trickles of the Waterfall within

drifters out at sea
one afloat, other drowning
saving you, saves me
