Jim Adams explains how tarot cards work ….

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Looking for the pattern and the logic behind tarot cards can be complicated, because there are 22 cards which are numbered I through XXI, with the fool being unnumbered, and on top of that, each one of these comes in one of the four suits, being the Cups, the Pentacles, the Swords, or the Wands.  Major Arcana consists of 22 cards that represent your spiritual path and journey.  Some decks are not numbered and only have a picture.  The number VII tarot card is called The Chariot and it supposedly represents reflection and assessment or ambitious action forward.  This can act as a warning against those times when you try to justify your actions.  Seven + Cups = wishful thinking & temptations.  Seven + Pentacles = impatience & lethargy.  Seven + Swords = trickery & cutting corners.  Seven + Wands = defending your boundaries & fighting back.  This VII tarot card shows a powerful, princely…

A mystery story ….by the Bag Lady

There is no restriction on length or format of the piece. There is no last date either, unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

Julie sat back sipping her morning coffee, and stopped short. It was her misplaced sense of the occult that drew her to the newspaper headline, “Local Psychic Brutally Murdered”. The story went on to report that well known Madam Sophia had been struck down by a long, curved blade which had been left at the scene of the crime. Detectives surveying the scene also said the hysterical storefront owner had seen nothing and was still in shock after opening the doors this morning. Apparently Madam Sophia had been killed the evening before.

Julie was dumbfounded, having seen the Madam earlier last night. She had a monthly appointment and loved the idea of having her future displayed before her in the…

Large Love #poetry and prose

Large love ….Jude Itakali writes an ode to September.

judeitakali's avatarTales Told Different

art by Anita Zotkina

Dawn rises and yawns with lingering memories of dusk. It dallies upon horizons, enchanted by the twilit union of night and day. It savours this forbidden moment of reckless love. A moment worth everything, and more.
I too, cling to the secret thoughts beneath my clouded sheets. For today, the wind changes:

September
the Monsoons return
love’s reply

Upon the endless ocean, winds be trapped by giant waves, winds be dragged to chartless depths, winds be weighed by lonely despair. But the monsoon is a wind of hope. It carries dreams, and brings back love.

Nile-water lillies
how gain you coral’s favour
and ocean wishes
save for an aquatic kiss
drifts of maritime romance

I wake this morning with a most unreasonable desire; to love a LARGE Love, an encompassing love.
I wake upon this thresh of September with a most devastating hope; to feel again…

ben Alexander's avatarThe Skeptic's Kaddish 🇮🇱

A Cleave poem

in the form of two Shadormas

as I agerhythms shift
over endful dayswhetting my senses
transformed bya wisdom
existingbeyond me
in the perceived universecalling unrelentingly
I’ve come to believeheaven leans on earth

How to read a cleave poem?

Simply:

  1. Read the left hand poem as a first discrete poem.
  2. Read the right hand poem as a second discrete poem.
  3. Read the whole as a third integrated poem.

Shadorma

  • The Shadorma is a Spanish poetic form made up of a stanza of six lineswith no set rhyme scheme (rhyme is optional);

When in doubt, be self-assured

When in doubt, be self-assured ….by Aishwarya

kittysverses's avatarKitty's Verses

Light was blocked far away from where it could reach a million dreams, and just like that it vanished into eternity. Darkness didn’t seem foreboding as I once imagined it to be, it just felt as natural as daylight could be.

The traps, the fallacies of imagination didn’t pounce on me and neither did a ghost catch me unawares. Darkness is a safe place to be for a brave, nay, self- assured soul.

Opera of contentment watered doubts away, yes, outlook of life changes from despair to hope, if only I’d give it a chance.

Guilt

Guilt ….by Diana Coombes

writerravenclaw's avatarWriter Ravenclaw

https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/ and I have used her word prompt to write a possible ending for my new novel. I have only rewritten six chapters, so not sure if this will be used, but I had fun writing it.

My story involves a young journalist, who through a car crash, starts to lose her sight. Her husband dies, and she investigates his death, and always believed it was not an accident. Her trust in the wrong person, leads to plot twists (hopefully) and a race against time before she goes completely blind.

In the end she realises, she is still the same journalist, and losing her sight doesn’t mean she has to give up on herself. I am looking into the theme of guilt, and her understanding to forgive herself.

It came from somewhere too far to walk, from as far away as the most unreasonable desire, the most devastating hope. To…

It came from somewhere too far to walk, from as far away as the most unreasonable desire, the most devastating hope.

  • Sharmishtha Mohanty in Thirty two nights and dawns

So it came from somewhere too far to walk

not the most unreasonable desire

the most devastating hope and I balk

the unspoken truth I know it’s dire

the unwitting faux pas that’s always there

it’s best never to wallow in the mire

it passed by so quickly out of nowhere

I’m still waiting for the final answer

flames of truth burning but not to scare

standing like an arrogant dancer

the air in the room was heavy and dank

background set to a dramatic fanfare

though some people can tolerate this crank

I for one don’t have appetite for it

so lay it out on the table, be frank

a place too far to walk and so much grit

from…

You

You …. by Michelle Navajas

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

You

i was mesmerized by none other than your eyes so alluring, your smile so enchanting. and your lips, oh! your lips how they speak of words only you with great mind could ever speak of.

it may sound unreasonable for some but what else is desire if we see reason in it? what else is the power of passion if we wish it to be right from the start? and what else is love when we need a reason to fall? after all, isn’t loving the very reason of love?

my mind could always argue what my heart could only agree as how love is so strong, so powerful, so true. for when it is, no amount of rational reasoning could make you even stop from loving.

and for that my dear i could do the sweetest, the most romantic for you; the sweetest like when Rachel got off…
