Politico – It’s an Opinion

Politico – It’s an opinion ….by Diana Coombes

Reena has given us her challenge this week, using the word Politico

‘It’s all so politico at the moment,’ David said.

‘Not heard of that word, what does it mean?’

His grandmother, not the typical person you would expect, would spend most of her time out of the house rather than in. To be fair, he only heard this word today. When she was at home, she would binge watch the latest shows, and write.

‘It means someone with strong political views Grannie.’

‘Ooh, that’s a good one, just let me write it down, I could use that in my next novel.’

She always had a note pad by her chair, and several unfinished novels on her computer. Although, he still had her signed copy of her book, just in case she got famous.

‘Politico, that’s a good one.’

‘How is you latest novel going Grannie?’

‘Slowly, although it would…

It’s True

i’ve heard it a million times

i couldn’t possibly be wrong

it keeps spinning back and forth

in my head

in my heart

in my being.

i knew it, i couldn’t be wrong

don’t tell me i’m goin’ crazy

it keeps coming back and forth

why doesn’t the phone ring stop?

i’ve pressed all buttons.

no, i’m not delusional

no, i’m not crazy

no, i’m not paranoid

how dare you call me one

in names, i am not

i’ve heard it and i knew it to be true.

you’ve insisted it’s me being paranoid

nothing’s happening

nothing’s wrong

with the phone

or the surroundings

or the people around.

so you took your hands off me

after all, how could you possibly

be with someone whose

like me.

but really, it’s true

why doesn’t the phone ring stop?

Ring……

Ring …. By Sadje

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

It’s a Line Prompt this week.

“Why doesn’t the phone ring stop? I’ve pressed all buttons.”

➰➰➰

It was early morning, way early for anyone to be waking up. But I heard the alarm go off somewhere. Was it mine I wondered?

I looked for my phone. It was lying innocently silent and dark. But the alarm tone kept on ringing every few seconds. It was close by but not too close. Perhaps it was in another room? Maybe one of the kids had left their cell phone with an alarm on in a secret location?

I checked everywhere but found nothing. Except the irritating buzz buzz. I don’t know when I went back to sleep, wondering about that insistent buzzing but when I woke up in the morning, it was all silent.

Phew! Talk about double edge to modern technology. On one hand, it gives us the convenience…

Enough already!! What the hell is going on?Why doesn’t the phone ring stop? I’ve pressed all buttons.

Because once you hang up on one, the next one comes in. That happens when you produce somethingstupendous; everyone wants your ear to make the next big deal, feature you, or showcase you for their benefit. Revel in it, darling, for you may end up a one-hit-wonder. There’s been a ton since the beginning of the music industry. You know how this business is—so fickle. So enjoy this while it lasts, and for goodness’ sake, start working on your next hit!

Let It Ring a Little Longer

Let it ring a little longer …. By Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Why doesn’t the phone ring stop?  I’ve pressed all buttons.  I am waiting in breathless anticipation, and constant desire, but it keeps on beeping, even when there’s no one calling me.  I realize that it beeps when I get new emails, but I think my phone is lonely and just looking for attention, as I hear this beep in spite of the fact that I didn’t get any new texts, emails or voicemail.  What on Earth is my phone trying to tell me?  It’s a royal pain in the ass for me to have to go through all of the settings on every single app to see which one is causing this, but I guess that would be the only way I could figure this out.  I don’t want to have to spend several hours trying to rectify this issue, so for now, I am just going to ignore it.

New Fangled

New fangled ….by Diana Coombes

This week’s one liner from https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2022/10/20/reenas-xploration-challenge-253/ reminded me of something Mum said when she got a set of cordless phones. This was before mobiles. It took her a day before she asked for her old phone back.

“Why doesn’t the phone ring stop? I’ve pressed all buttons.”

‘That’s what makes the noise Grannie,’ Chelsea said, taking hold of her birthday present.

‘Well, it’s a bit stupid, don’t you think. Also, it keeps showing me notifications. Look at this one. I’ve won some sort of lottery, but I haven’t paid for anything. All I need to do is click on this link, and I’ll be a millionaire.’

‘No, Grannie, don’t do that, you’ll get a virus.’

‘No, I’ve had the flu jab, Covid, and pneumonia, I won’t get any virus.’

Chelsea sat by her grandmother, ninety if she was a day, and didn’t quite know how to explain a computer virus…

amnesia of the soul

A beautiful piece by Audrine Max

Audrine Max's avatarAwakening Imagination

a lifetime of accummulation
vivid memories of trepidition
sandwiched in between
blissful experiences
adding more shades
and colorful pigmentations
replaying over and over
encountering different characters
worn too many garments
learning too many lessons
but then you choose
to go on for another ride
another trip, another dive
another run for this
game of life
just one more of this-
stupendous earthly sojourn
and all those gained knowledge
must be erased
like a soup of colors
down the drain
for that is the agreement
for wanting to come back
in order to play the game
one more time
in the ticket,
it has been encrypted
amnesia of the soul
that is the one rule
no recollection
forgetting is unlearning
for this is- a reset, a restart
aren’t you happy, you are
a white blank slate
no colors, no dots
but once again free
to become
who you are.

mirrors to the soul

My soul was made in colour. Dark shades that once boasted of unending depths, and bright hues which flirted with boundless heights. But alas, the world judges in black and white. In one’s idea of right and wrong. In one’s perception of darkness and light.

My soul is a concoction of hues. A cup of Familiar with drops of Strange.
It forms in a cauldron of Order, over flames of Chaos.
Uniqueness was meant to be my strength, yet the world has deemed it weakness.
