The best and the worst

It’s time…

for the bubble to burst

The last prompt from https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2022/12/15/reenas-xploration-challenge-261/

The best day in her life, almost like the worst,

all it took for the bubble to burst,

was a telephone call, out of the blue

as she put on her silver high heeled shoe.

The worst day, it felt at the time,

when her memories should be sublime.

Bride beware, you’re making a mistake

he loves me, our love isn’t fake.

The best day, years of hurt denied,

lucky not to be his bride,

she heard of affairs, control, pain,

no longer jealousy was her domain.

The Great Escape, each year a toast,

a smile, a hug, her life to coast.

A friendly word, to thank her rival,

giving her chance of survival.

A single moment at a time

A single moment at a time …. By Destiny

Written for Reena’s Xploration Challenge #261

to my daughter

Loses herself in
worlds of words, buried between
pages of fantasy

Writing helps her heal
reading soothes her weary mind,
her attempts to deal

Burdens of loss harsh
Solitude her escape, aged
far beyond her age

Neglects her woes, to
fill the silence, adopts the
need to be our strength

Bear not these burdens
my shining star, just know I’m
here and love you so

When lost, I’ll guide you,
when still, I hear you, when hurt,
I see you, always…

It will take a while,
but we’ll get there, a single
moment at a time…

The best we lost, worst
is now but time will come, and
this bubble will burst

Double Edged Sword

Double Edged Sword …. By Mich

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

Double Edged Sword

it’s never easy to be standing on the same ground as i am
i don’t expect to be understood or to be accepted
for i can be both your sweetest dream and your worst nightmare.

it’s not for me to beg for your concern or your discernment
i don’t like your sympathy for i am strong amidst my weaknesses
i am brave even when its time for me to embrace fear.

i don’t have time for drama and spectacle
my life alone is filled with cinematic denouement and Shakespearean inspired tragedies
i played both roles; the hero and the villain of my own life story.

so don’t tell me how to live my life for you don’t have the slightest idea how to be me
don’t bullshit me with your loving care if you don’t even see the reason why i suffer.

stab me with madness and…

Conspiracy Theories and Misinformation

Conspiracy theories and misinformation….by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

I am skeptical and I don’t believe in any of the major conspiracies that are being perpetuated on the internet around the world.  I do believe that there have been government cover-ups and becoming a whistleblower and shining light on the government is an essential part of accountability, but I think that sightings of UFOs, and hairy humanoids are ridiculous.  Donald Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to release information regarding alleged dealings between Eastern European oligarchs and Hunter Biden, but after Senate investigations, no evidence of wrongdoing was produced.  If Tom Brady could destroy his phone to prevent anyone from seeing his texts on deflating the footballs, then what is stopping Hunter Biden from doing the same.  Trump has more business dealing with the Russian oligarchs than Hunter ever had, so this is a lot like the pot calling the kettle black.  We will probably never know what…

Hard to forget the year that was

Hard to forget …..by Lady Lee

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from“A Pan for Christmas”by Gillena Cox:parade, tabanca, gatherings, steelpan, music, grocery, safe, teacher, angel, top, ambition, forget

Hard to forget the year that was

Pandemic came and gatherings pause

Not safe to go to grocery without a mask

No parade, no time to revel and bask

With music health workers we applause

Music with steelpan or do tiktok just because

Nowhere to go, hardly used our cars

Ambition halt, just in the house with task

Hard to forget

On top of it a lot of social media faux pas

Not sure of the meaning and the cause

Angel of death and a wooden cask

A painful tabanca with my face mask

Shop online on that year that was

Hard to forget*

PROMPT #260

I’ll leave it to your interpretation. Do you see gaps here? Fill it up as you like.

NEW YEAR

The year twenty twenty-two

Was a mixed bag of up and down

Sometimes I reacted sensibly

Sometimes like a clown

Now it’s to be seen

What brings twenty twenty-three

Takes me up the ladder

Or throws me down

But I believe

Happiness and sorrows

All comes to an end

Don’t lose faith till the very end

Keep the hopes and dreams alive

Without them, no one can survive

2020- A year, a gift that kept on giving

2020 – a year that kept on giving …. By Sadje

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

This weeks prompt is;

2020

Started quite innocently

No one ever dreamt of what it’ll bring

The pandemic caught us in its snare completely

The struggle was tough for so many families

Death and sickness very hard to deal with specially as we were ill-prepared

But the saga continues in ‘21 and ‘22………..

The disease waxing and waning sometimes we won, sometimes Covid won

Not content with disease, fate added a war to the mix

Unemployment, rising inflation have us by our throats

Now we are reaching the end of 2022 and a small hope is kindled

May be the new year will bring some tidings of joy, something to celebrate

This hope need lots of prayers and faith to make it a reality

Wishing you all the best in the new year

New Day Dawning (Daylight Savings Begins, March 8, 2020)

New Day Dawning …. By Judie

lifelessons's avatarlifelessons - a blog by Judy Dykstra-Brown

Mexico Saves Daylight

Nobody knows
what this new day
has in store for us.
The colors stolen by night
have not come back yet––
only the string of miniature Chinese lanterns
strung on the patio
glow their soft tones:
lavender, yellow, peach, rose, lime green.
Powered by energy stolen from the sun,
they light up this very early morning darkness
otherwise lit by the random stars of
streetlights undulating over roads that wind up foothills.

The mountain peak named Señor Garcia
stands against the gray predawn sky.
Colima volcano peers over his shoulder,
half-obscured by mist and clouds.
My day emerges.

Scatterings of lights twinkle
from the small pueblos across the lake.
Bats swoop and dart
after the last insects of the night,
then speed impossibly into second-story tejas
for their communal day’s rest.

The hot tub cover,
submerged a few inches beneath the water’s surface,
forms a mirror for…

Vision

Vision ..

By The Bag Lady

rugby843's avatarThe Bag Lady

***

Your sight was twenty twenty

I didn’t see us so clearly

I thought my vision perfect

Then you left, and I was merely

A shell, a husk, unwanted cover

Discarded, as a piece of trash

It could not have hurt me more

If you had struck me with a lash

I wished, I wished, but now I see, so perfectly

You and I were but that wish,

Reality—I failed to see.
