Entertainment industry
In its haste to revive
The loss and popularity
During Covid time
Forgets that
The audience has come out of the trance
It was catering
In the name of
Entertainment
Entertainment, and
Entertainment only
Overlooking the fact
That
People during
Lockdown time
came out of the hypnosis
It Imposed with
The culture of
God knows
Which world
Now on Somewhat on the same wavelength

Inner storms. Cinquain and Haibun

Inner storms ….by Jude Itakali

Calm seas
ńeath brewing storms
where morals turn agile
and perspicacious drifters long
for Self

Pity
enshrouds the spy
the unwitty witness
Innocence pays the maiden price
World’s Way

Of hope
on same wavelengths
fickle, is life’s grapevine
upon the volatile current
Of truth

Our fear
Precient ally
reveals and then withholds
bitter endings, brave beginnings
The Call

The You
you always tame
dewy-eyed explorer
wandering through life’s hypnosis
The spark

Tall Tales Corner

Le Jardin de l’artiste à Giverny by Claude Monet

It is said that ‘art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.’
Or so their picture-perfect family hoped, as they mounted a piece of spring in their livingroom. It was odd that on sunny days, those trees seemed to bleed and a face lurked in the background windows.
The patch of sunlight surrounded by shades induced a claustrophobic feeling…

A desert without an oasis

A desert without an oasis ….. by Aishwarya

kittysverses's avatarKitty's Verses

Photo Manipulation by Photographer Dariusz Klimczak

I ponder over the inconsistencies of what is said and what is done,

wavelengths diverge,

collected through stroboscopic beams.

Hypnotised, I wander as if in a trance,

with none to call or connect,

in middle of a desert, muddled, without an oasis.

There is but a lot to learn and move along,

a single being evolving as collective entity,

what if it isn’t an entrainment effect?

Acknowledgements :- Thank you Reena Saxena for hosting RxC 272. The prompt is a word cloud of five words, “Entrainment, Stroboscopic, Wavelength, Hypnosis, Trance” and we were asked to choose any two to be used in our piece. In The Dark

In the Dark ….by Diana Coombes

Written in response to https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2023/03/20/reenas-xploration-challenge-272-ma-only-trigger-warning-explicit-content-deadly-wavelengths/. This is my opening to my novel (not quite polished) In The Dark. The prologue is set twenty years before the main story, when my main character is thirteen.

I can slip in and out of Joe’s bedroom, what big bro don’t know.

Pushing the white door, lightly, I whisper his name; just in case. Inside, I shut the door with a soft thud.

His little green Christmas tree sits in the corner, covered in baubles. It’s so bloody neat in here. In little piles, his schoolbooks, probably in alphabetical order, are on his table.

Even his bed is made.

It’s like nobody lives here man.

Mum’s always having a go. Sarah, why can’t you be more like your brother? Your room is a pigsty. If you don’t bring those clothes down I’ll take out the wire from your X-box. Nag, nag, nag, every…

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #272: MA ONLY TRIGGER WARNING EXPLICIT CONTENT-Deadly Wavelengths

Deadly wavelengths …by Amanda

Damien de Soto's avatarHerder of Swine

I am in a trance, meditating on a deadly wavelength a chaotic hypnosis focusing on a stroboscopic motion, the slicing fan, tragic entrainment , of my mind transfixed on the woman who danced with me, for money and items.

I am dancing right now, with my own death, because I cannot handle living right now, and I don’t want to die, but I am bleeding out a year after losing you, over and over again, triggered by nothing, by you calling me, you texting me, bothering me, so much that I put all this out here on this site, as if it just happened, that is how it feels, like it just happened, but I have bleeding for a year. I am dying over this, and have been for a year, killing myself, with drugs and alcohol over a person who used me for drugs…

If You Are Well Rested…

If you are well rested…. By Aboli Mane

Aboli Mane's avatarA Writer In The Room

circadian rhythm
awake and arise
serotonin sunshine
if you are well rested
the day begins well

the body clock has a way
early to bed early to rise
makes a person healthy and wise
current lifestyles do not agree
with this maxim, unsurprised

entrainment is a habit
and habits are hard to set
it takes twenty one days to make
only one day to break
infinite scrolling; same wavelength

circadian rhythm
awake and arise
serotonin sunshine
if you are well rested
the day begins well

In lieu of belated World Sleep Day (March 17), I present a poem adhering to the prompts for Reena’s Xploration Challenge #272.

I have trouble falling asleep just as the next person…social media is often to blame for it. Gone are the days when I could sleep early and wake early…as we grow older we set our own routines be it good or bad.

magical notebook

Magical notebook …by Elizabeth

Elizabeth's avatarTea & Paper

you found me

in the middle of a cornfield

a bookstore

where else could I be?

you hypnotized me

with the magical red and golden pattern

i couldn’t see or hear anything

except for your magnetism

you guided me close to you

in a trance state, I grabbed you

caressing your pages

the words formed spells in my mind

Reena’s Xploration challenge this week is to choose at least 2 words of the word cloudy below and be creative. I’ve chosen Hypnosis and Trance.

I bought this notebook a few weeks back during a trip to USA middle-west. It’s a beautiful place with lots of cornfields and wonderful bookstores. I couldn’t resist when I saw this notebook, I had to buy it! It was indeed a magical moment.

ON A DIFFERENT WAVELENGTH

I came into the sitting room
And turned on the radio
I then adjusted the dial
Till it arrived at my favourite station
(That played hits from the 70’s & 80’s)
It was smack bang in the middle of
Video Killed the Radio Star
Blasting out over the stereo
With it’s own thumping hypnotic beat
If was infectious
