Physics, Chemistry, Biology Philosophy, Psychology Enzymology, Neurology coming together in three pounds fascinates me no end… I don’t look out, though nature is always around somewhere on the outskirts, concrete structures surround but restrict, more than expand I wonder what my dog thinks before giving so much tirelessly, selflessly or the sly cat who loves … Continue reading Muse

Washed Ink

I don’t sympathise with a restless adversary trying to justify his heinous act. But I can’t deny it is opening up another perspective, Maybe he tried to help….  And then that letter is placed in my hands - to prove that he tried his best. It is worded cryptically, and as I move towards the … Continue reading Washed Ink

Tired of Same Old Endings

Tired of same old endings …by VJ Knutson

I could never tire of reading this…

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Tired of same old endings
in which hopes are slaughtered
and tragedy and insanity win.

Raised by the bottle, learned
to set standards low –
still afraid of heights –
have fallen as the ground
beneath my aspirations crumbled –
a certainly under alcohol’s rule.

Tired of same old endings
in which self is battered by indifference
and ego loses the battle for control.

Mother’s denial a coping mechanism
negating children’s need, obliterating
safety, disregarding long-term damage;
even in older years, when we tried
to get her out, were powerless against
his manipulation, his eternal imprinting.

Tired of same old endings
in which the heroine, resources spent
succumbs to the madness, suicides.

Want to believe in a future, greener,
hopeful, in which relationships
are fulfilling, and life goals are
supported; in which encouragement
is not the ploy of deviousness, and
personal best is rewarded, sustained.

Recluse

I knew it before landing in this jungle of well-dressed thorns. They don’t like people who know better than them. They speak to you as if obliging. They probe further to know your alignment to power bases. And that man with one eyebrow quizzically raised… I knew it he will walk away after knowing who … Continue reading Recluse

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #189 – Weekly Wrap

Xploration Challenge #189 was different - innocent, childlike, light-hearted, opening itself up to myriad interpretations. I was not sure if serious, mature writers who stand as pillars to the Xploration Challenge will respond, or walk away with disdain. Respond they did, and it makes marvellous reading. Do check out all the blogs... WEEKLY WRAP Susi … Continue reading Reena’s Xploration Challenge #189 – Weekly Wrap

Straightening loops

I invite a meltdown. I challenge meltdowns to sort themselves out into new patterns. I challenge meltdowns to harbour elements which change with compounding, and look at each other in new ways. We pride ourselves on our identity, but now it looks melded with yours. There are commonalities, and there are contradictions mocking each other. … Continue reading Straightening loops
