I see what drives her to do those insane things. A childhood bereft of parental approval and expectations to fit into a mold induce unhealthy compliance or wild rebellion. It is a quest to find oneself. What perplexes me even more are those shifts in behavior patterns, moving from rebellion to compliance and back. Do … Continue reading Mirrors

Retirement

“I ordered baklava today, but it does not live up to my Mom’s cooking”, coos her daughter on the phone while ordering dinner online. Her husband senses her disappointment. “Let them live their own lives. You did your best.” She used to gloat in compliments after guests enjoyed her lavish dinners, and erroneously built her … Continue reading Retirement

Deserts

I learn from a course in Heart Core Power, that the heart actually controls the brain. There is a very strong electromagnetic field around the heart which directs our thoughts and lifestyles. The theory is interesting but challenged by neuroscientists for want of sufficient evidence. What if I choose to believe in it for some … Continue reading Deserts

Flowers and gods

Flowers and Gods …. by Jude Itakali

judeitakali's avatarTales Told Different

I live in a world of gods but they are silent
A lifetime of worship, devotion, and sacrifice
yet they deny me this one boon
They deny me you
Come back, my love

A semblance of power pulses all around us
I reach for it
, delve into the alchemy of the great mother
and preserve you in a stasis of aching beauty
but it is not enough
The gods hoard all the rest
And I need you, my sunrise

In a world without gods, our wills stir the cosmos
I reach into the infinite
and touch the divine dispersions once denied me
My chains are shattered
I see your soul in the chaos that must not be disturbed
But for you, my love
Anything!

Responding to Reena’s challenge #265: LIVING IN A WORLD WHERE NO GODS EXIST: https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2023/01/26/reenas-xploration-challenge-265/

The death of God was announced briefly, to a large group of school children, on March 15, 2100, and a tombstone was placed in Bill Gates square as a monument to the death of superstition and the rise of science. Penelope Gates the supreme world leader presided over the opening ceremony watched by a few of her minions from the World Forum, in addition to the students. She gave a short speech extolling the advances in science over the last hundred years and how humans now controlled their own destiny and had no need for the Gods of old. “We are a fully enlightened species and have buried all the superstitious nonsense of the past”. The ceremony was duly recorded and screened in all residences to further indoctrinate the masses to the will of the ruling…

Promptly yours

Promptly yours ….by JM Negi

J M Negi's avatarYours Satirically

Yes, literally its a blog which is driven by different “prompts“, as given by other respected & established bloggers. It goes like-

Love & solemnity forge her exercise deeds till infinity,

Acting as a Family angel with all her true Muliebrity,

No responsibility eschewed and no apathy shown,

Mothers are evidently second God to us

In this world with true known sanity.

Nothing to deter her from even an iota of optimism,

Be complete failures or any tiny criticism,

Let our faith always persists,

Because we don’t live in a world,

Where no God exists.

I live with my “mother”, you may opt

To live in a world where no Gods Exist.

Above is my effort to do justice to the prompts as detailed-

Reena’s Xploration Challenge#265- To live in a world where no Gods Exist.
