you were everything you were expected to be, giver of life to the world’s
greatest leaders, brilliant thinkers,
gifted innovators, even to the next man
who will walk to the moon.
but what have they done to you?
what honor and grace have they given you?
the right to suffrage?
the right to lead?
the right to be independent?
isn’t the right to vote a basic human right?
isn’t the chance to become a leader open to everyone?
isn’t independence a basic concept of democracy?
why then are you being told to be grateful for the equality you have been granted upon?
why then are you being told to accept things as it is and for how it is?
you were everything you were expected to be, cradle of love, kindness, generousity, and compassion to the world’s next generation of youths.
