Textures

A large collage in vivid colours strikes the eye, as soon as one enters the living room. Undoubtedly, it’s been a labour of love to put together pieces that seemingly don’t match, but come together to write poetry on the wall. Grandma refuses to let go of this, though the rest of the house is … Continue reading Textures

air;

Air ….by Melissa Lemay

Melissa Lemay's avatarMom With a Blog

Don’t hold my head down,
Telling me to submit to
Sheer authority;
I am one with Creator
therefore I am one.
I am guided without air
of your existence;
one name releases me from
your commands, you see.
I see thorns on your roses.
I won’t oblige quietly.

Eyes

Eyes – piercing, accusing, tormenting glances surround her spewing fire, till she shuts her own eyes to escape the lethal impact, and moves inward to find strength within. Eyes – watch with trepidation as the cross on her shoulders breaks to transform into artistic patterns and tells a story – a story which they do … Continue reading Eyes

Rainbow in the Sky

I paint a rainbow on the sky. The lighthouse waits for a ship to pass. The lighthouse keeper stopped coming, as advanced technology took over. I feel its loneliness, and the feeling of irrelevance in the absence of ships seeking guidance. I move the torchlight on the wooden benches. Where have all the people gone? … Continue reading Rainbow in the Sky

It Was More Than A Heartbreak

It was more than a heartbreak ….by Michelle Ayon Navajas

It Was More Than A Heartbreak

it was more than a heartbreak when you said “i’m way over you so i went,”
you went to dispose everything that reminds you of me-
from the pillow we once shared keeping our heads together dreaming on a summer day,
the sheets we ultimately thought would keep us warm together; while we struggle to snuggle,
you give them all –
it was more than a heart break to know,
it was easy to let go.

it was more than a heartbreak when you left,
you left just as i was running back to you;
the dreams we dreamed,
you took them all with you,
the memories we dared lived,
you burned them down,
down the drain;
the songs we shared and melodies we hummed,
you let it all out
out for the world to bid adieu;
you too had said your saddest goodbye,

Mis-life

Happy runs fast as he chases something I can’t see. He looks frustrated about missing a target. I realise it’s a housefly he can see across the glass of sliding doors. I wonder if the life we lead is a ‘mislife’ or missed life – something that exists outside a glass window, but is unreachable. … Continue reading Mis-life
