Patience is Reverence

Large mountain sign reading REFUGE above an alpine valley

Applause grows louder
when you share articles
you never bothered to read,
yet recommend
as wisdom worth following.

Conviction sounds strongest
when repeating opinions
polished by the crowd,
never tested
against the friction of thought.

The greatest frauds
rarely deceive others first;
They perfect the art
of rehearsing lies until
performance is seen as character

Truth collects no followers.
It simply waits,
patient as a climber
for every mask to grow tired
and be sucked by gravity

  1. This poem hits home, Reena, it’s oh so true! I think at least one mask has grown tired – we and truth are now waiting for it to be sucked by gravity.
