He watched her back as she walked out of the door, knowing he would always have her back without letting her know.
Not very long ago, she had arrived broken, certain she would drown in the weight of grief, and he offered what she lacked most – a steady shore where she could rest her fears and rediscover her dreams.
For a while she mistook that refuge for destiny, believing that because his kindness carried her through the storm, her future belonged to him, and leaving him would amount to thanklessness.
She watched him getting busier with his international trips, as she got back to her love for arts and joined various art circles.
One evening, while discussing business problems, the sentence he spoke with a smile, “Being a holder in due course does not make you the ultimate owner,” settled between them like truth that her life had never ceased to belong to her.
He knew that he had set her free to make her choices, while retaining his freedom and this would make it their most unforgettable bond.

Bonds make what is bonded stronger.

Wonderful write, Reena. If we truly love someone, we want what’s best for them, even if it means letting them go. What a shame it is to stifle another person’s voice, creativity, and dreams.

Reena, I love how this turns love itself into freedom, where the strongest bond is not holding on, but quietly helping someone become fully their own.
