Don’t break my heart.
It learned your shape in the park,
and has called it home ever since.
Don’t break my heart.
Blood may map the past,
but your touch named my world.
Don’t break my heart.
One hug eclipsed ancestry
and made a future out of skin and light.
The physiology of touch and love outweighs genealogy – anytime, anywhere.

Beautifully said, Reena. We have an adopted child in our family and she is surrounded by love.

The idea that touch and care write our sense of home far deeper than bloodlines is such a powerful truth. I completely agreed with Nancy’s Notes on how giving birth is just one part of the journey.

Absolutely. We don’t give birth to our pets, yet they are dearer than anyone else.

Love and caring and sacrifice do not result strictly from giving birth. Profound verse, Reena.

I wonder if an adopted child sharing a deep bond with adoptive parents ever wants to find biological parents. Maybe out of curiosity, but not more than that.
