The other side hosts
a civilisation
that calls itself civilised
without us
We
protest
held hostage by history
because they distrust
alien capability
as threats to
security
actually
power
every whisper
carries pain
every scream
sounds like a whimper
as we struggle to
disengage from handcuffs
imposed by tradition
Watch exploding timelines
Watch inflamed social feeds
Watch processions on the street
Here we come
not to dislodge you
but to claim our rightful place
Watch the boats appear
Watch the wind-driven sails
Watch high tides
All that was submerged
wants to meet us
join the journey
to destinations
held hostage in frozen mindsets
now breathing
through choppy waters

A strong and relevant poem – the boxes added to the message within – Jae

That line about how all that was submerged wants to meet us really got me thinking about how we carry things in our shoulders and hips for decades without realizing it until the tide finally shifts. Sometimes our bodies hold onto old history just like that, locking up tight until we decide to stop fighting the current and just breathe through the choppy water. Thank you for sharing such a powerful piece of writing today.

I love how you pulled such a powerful poem from the image focusing on the water between… and how it can be crossed.

This is such a powerful response to the prompt, Reena. I resonate with; “Watch high tides all that was submerged wants to meet us join the journey to destinations held hostage in frozen mindsets.” ๐๐

Glad to receive positive vibes. We have a lot of demonstrations happening here for safe outdoor movement for women.

There is so much emotion in your beautiful poem, it is along journey and some mindsets do not understand that.
