The patient is amused to see the doctor’s child walk into the clinic to seek permission for going to the movies. The doctor looks flabbergasted, mutters a half-hearted yes, and sees his youngest child run in excitement to share the good news with his siblings.
“Doctor, does every movement at home need a nod from you?”
“My wife takes the easy way out, by shifting the onus on me”, he smiles, “so that she is not blamed for their low scores in tomorrow’s test.”
“Go slow, doc, they have learnt how to catch you at awkward moments making a No difficult.”
Decades later, his son forges his signature to withdraw money from his account, and the almost demented doctor/disappointed father consoles himself. “There’s no connection between the two incidents, and I won’t whip myself for it.’
