Shadows on the grass speak of a fence somewhere – boundaries that demand respect.
Religion induces discipline, incites wars and sometimes turns sane people into maniacs.
I wish it were more of a contract where offer and acceptance are both needed, rather than an accident of birth.
Anything that divides humanity is subhuman, bordering on inhuman. Whatever leaves godliness undefined is not religion. It is only a cult.
Peep from the side to see what lies behind the façade.
Is it liberation? A chosen way of life?
Does it lead you to battlegrounds to defend or offend?
Step in with care.

A very provocative poem touching on many angles of religion and its effects. Although their may be a contract (bar/bat mitzvah or confirmation in catholicism) it is usually done while one is still young and influenced by their family and upbringing.

Yes. They do it before a person is capable of exercising choice.

I’m still thinking about this one, Reena… but, yes, different religions are hard to grasp.

Maybe a religion was launched as a positive code of conduct. Gradually, it becomes a tool to enslave mindsets.

That’s a very good point.

I think Rochelle played a bit with the picture before making it public. Some AI effect has been used to make it look a bit twisted and angular.

Hi Reena,
The photo of synagogue made me philosophical too. Well said.
Have a good day,

Thank you, Surabhi! What got me was the gap between the facade and actual building. It doesn’t look like an integrated structure.

Thank you, Nancy! The non-aligned group disappeared from the international stage, but is badly needed both in religion and politics. We don’t need to define ourselves by birth or citizenship, though it shapes our personalities. There is always scope to step beyond.

Actually, religion is commonly used as a mask to conceal the actual causes of wars which are greed and the desire to consume your enemy’s resources.
In Judaism, you are born into a covenant relationship with God whether you want to be or not. In Christianity, it’s more as you say with an offer that can be accepted or declined.

Islam and Christianity accept and welcome converts.

Islam and Christianity welcome converts. Hinduism has no such inbuilt practice. Zoroastrians excommunicated people who married outside the community. They are reduced to a minuscule minority now.
