Slogans are designed to make an emotional appeal.
The slogans I heard in my student days reverberated in my mind for decades, especially the one that said: “Justice Delayed, Justice Denied.”
I look back at the events in life and feel that certain things happened, but not at the right time. The power that wrote my destiny was not fair.
Yet, I flow with time and find a new version of me emerge at the end of every phase.
I learnt how to use resins in artwork and saw fancy pieces being created by moulding the remnants of colours after a predetermined design was executed.
I refuse to wallow in self-pity. I enjoy observing the transition in metaphorical mirrors, and the iridescent image swims through a mirror that flows faster than a river.
Soon, I’ll reach the intersection of life and whatever lies beyond.
Prosery – Luminous Accountings
Prompt line from the poem “King of the River” by Stanley Kunitz.

I love that slogan.
Interested to see the artwork.
Don’t go too soon!

Thank you so much, Catherin!
Whatever I have done so far is marbling and ocean art. But more is on the anvil.

Wonderful, Reena! I really jive with the vibrant, optimistic use of the Kunitz line, putting it to good use in the current, so to speak, of your thoughts on a self-made woman, independent finally, of circumstance, dependent on your own energetic vision and action.

I have a hard time believing that there is anything at all beyond… we simply have to do the most of what we have in this life.

I love the way you have used the prompt and the whole sentence around and and how it builds up to that. Truly… I think that’s a good way to live, to become fluid, see your past, but not be a prisoner of it. I too refuse that…

Our passage through life when we are looking back on what now is, and what might have been, is something we may not be happy with. There are paths I didn’t take, paths I couldn’t take, paths I’m glad I chose. It’s wonderful to find ease in where we are. A lovely, thought-provoking piece.

What a powerful piece. The way it moves from disillusionment to acceptance is both earned and graceful.
Mirrors are typically about reflection and recognition, but your image is kinetic, the iridescent image swims, the mirror flows faster than a river. You’re not static, watching yourself; you’re moving through yourself, becoming fluid. The metaphorical mirror that flows faster than an actual river suggests that your internal transformation outpaces external time. The prompt line (“the iridescent image swims through a mirror that flows”) becomes the perfect vessel for this philosophy of continuous becoming.
