closed doors mock my decisions
You are blocked
screams every entrance
-angry paths locked beyond
swear silently
not cuss words
but indifference
those were not decisions
just an escape
from the unbearable
baggage on my back
neither you nor me
were travellers with a map
not burning with ambition
not rowing a boat
not on the driving seat
just coasting along
wishing on stars
what stares back at us today
not joy
not success
not disappointment
-just a void
threatening to swallow
what was never ours
what was never meant to be

beautiful poem Reena! I felt it in my soul! ❤

Indifference. I hate that word.

What would you substitute it with?

It’s not the word itself, it’s the meaning it portrays. I like to pick a side.

You are right in the sense, that it could be escapism.

This is an excellent write, Reena. Closed doors make me thing of narrow-minded people. Brava!

I think what people on both sides have lost out on.

The idea of doors has always been a fascination for me. Reeena, you have elevated the point of view of a closed door to the level of life’s daily struggles…for purpose, direction. Great write.

I find that people with ambitions are the ones closing all those doors…
