They were finally at the destination wedding venue, despite opposition from the families, whom they had somehow managed to convince.
Tisha stopped in her tracks as she was laying out her makeup for the next event. A table emerged from the shadows with eight legs bending and twitching, moving with the grotesque rhythm of an insect β every step it took left a trail that pulsated faintly.
A whisper seemed to rise from the surface, voices of the brides that once sat around it, now trapped in its grain β NO BRIDE SURVIVES.
She held back a scream as her eyes grew wide in horror, and the kajal in her eyes flowed on her cheeks.
When it finally stopped at her feet, she heard a grotesque voice call out her name.

That’s a destination alright! A final one! Excellent, Reena!

Don’t develop phobias βΊ The table is only fiction, but brides being sacrificed for various reasons are not.

i thought it was a rather quirky horror story… i could only compare to the ‘runaway brides’ stories… no, i don’t think i’m gonna lose any sleep… it was a sorta off the cuff comment…. π

two words: “ewww”
the table’s threat seems unfortunately too common

What would you suggest as an alternative?

I wonder if one could smack that table with a newspaper or something…
Like Clark said… Ewww.
but. That was a cool story, I like horror. I just can’t shake the picture of that table out of my minds eye…

too be clear, my ‘eww’ was tied to the commonness of the table (as is they’re everywhere, hence the threat (eww) being multiplied)…
the table is, imo, perfect on a couple of levels: totally ubiquitous, every home and office (heck, even restricting ourselfs to food-serving tables) and… multiple legs. What’s two or four* more? lol
two for common insects/four for really-actually alien arachnids
oh! wait… just noticed where my error was, the word ‘too’ had I italicized it might have avoided the potential for misunderstanding

Now I know why AI created a quick image. It could pounce on the ubiquitous table image π
