wrapping up the past exhausts me
it’s so physical
old diaries, letters,
framed pictures
albums in black and white
college marksheets
the gift from my grandfather
my mother’s belongings
old, but expensive clothes
I can’t fit into now
the future invites
being so light
everything compacted on a device
budgets, retirement plans,
a few apps
items in shopping carts
AI headshots
drafts and outlines of books
that live in my head
word soups posted online
(I choose to float in those, imbibe or ignore)
Digital feels
almost spiritual

awesome Reena! A great poem! Well done! I did not try this form!

How I wish I could feel the same, Reena! 😅
Yesterday I was sorting out an old bag of letters. Found letters from my students, college friends and school friends. Got teary-eyed re-reading and instead of throwing them away, as initially planned, kept all of them.

Scan and preserve those, if it appeals to you. Digital is light, but can get wiped out with a device going defunct.

I have done that with photos. May try doing it with letters too. 👍🏼

While I try to digitise my past, I keep creating more to add to it! I’m precious about very little though. I live mostly in my head. Nicely written Reena 👏

I know the feeling… my poetry almost only exist in the cloud, and so do my travel… (still there are things piling up)
