The first time is always special—
and yet, you don’t know it, you don’t feel it in your bones.
It slips in, innocuous,
that “Yes” you uttered for peace, for decorum… and you begin to fall into oblivion,
where your only voice is the echo of that Yes.
A warning rises: “They are out for you. Stand together, for the divided shall be erased.”
Fear coils in your gut, and you extend your hand to slavery
-not knowing you surrender your will to a grip you never deciphered.
You believe: They are my Protectors.
But the protectors serve themselves, not you.
A faint awakening draws your gaze to the window,
yet the fog thickens, and the door is locked.

Well done, Reena.

but…but!! the knowledge of the door is the key when all else fails
we (humans) have been conditioned into a believing surrender is the same as failure…there is an alternate path (not an answer or a fix simply a future) found in acceptance*
*which unfortunately many of us have been conditioned into believing acceptance is the same as acquiescence or even capitulation not necessarily

Not necessarily, unless you take the next fatal decision to flow along with the previous one.

This is a strikingly intense and metaphorical piece, built around the slow erosion of agency through consent, fear, and illusion of protection.
What stands out immediately is the central progression—from a simple “Yes” to complete psychological entrapment. That opening idea is powerful because it frames something ordinary as the beginning of a much larger loss. It’s not loud or dramatic at first; it’s subtle, almost invisible. That makes the descent feel more unsettling.
