youth smiled thro’ tightened expressions
of amnesia;
made people wonder
what the accident did to him.
He had stopped digging into an unhappy past
every night
and emerging years older
in the morning
with no past to remember
he farmed fresh memories
every day

I think that I still dig into my unhappy past to farm inspiration – conscious that it no longer exists.
A thoughtful and thought-provoking write for me, Reena. Nicely done 👏

Great poem, Reena! No sense in wasting the present in the past.

Wish people would make conscious efforts to bury an unpleasant past.

Good insight Reena! Amnesia can be a blessing or a curse and sometimes, both! 😏
