Hot air balloons of mutual expectations
puffed up with speeches and self-importance,
hover like parade floats of borrowed virtue.
One jab of reality
sharp as a safety pin
and the grand spectacle collapses,
leaving the stench of heartbreak
and a crumpled, wasted life

NICE response to the image! I can see these two figures as hot air balloons and the pin going right for the swollen heads! And POOF, they’re gone!
