Rosetta Stone – Unhomed

I came across something else while researching the Rosetta Stone.

The claim is that multiple copies of the Rosetta Stone exist.

The Rosetta Stone is just one of several stones inscribed with the same decree. Archaeologists have found other fragments and similar inscriptions in different temples across Egypt.

The stone wasn’t a singular artefact. It was part of a broader communication campaign by Ptolemy V’s regime. This campaign aimed to reinforce his legitimacy.

The intent behind the imitations could be to educate the public. It might also aim to inform Egyptology enthusiasts about the original kept in a British museum.

Carved decree,
fractured yet enduring—
a voice of kings,
translated across empires,
still waiting to come home.

  1. nothing like cultural appropriation… no, wait that refers to borrowing styles, symbols, tradition (sorta like the 1960s rock group Cream and black music)

I think I mean imperialism of the worst sort… sure, take over a less well-armed country, at least thats’ honest’

but to steal relics and artifacts of another culture and then put them on display in a museum on the other side of the globe.

    civilization at it’s worst
